So it turns out that the guy I went on the date with and I likely won't be going out again anytime soon. The second date turned out weird and I haven't heard from him since, but, all told, that's okay. There were some things that happened or were said (mostly by him) and I realized that I can do better

...what's a......SHABU?![]()
Shabu is Japanese for Swish, so the style of eating literally translates into swish swish, which is what you do. They bring you a plate of raw meat, thinly sliced, a plate of vegetables, and you are seated in front of a bowl of boiling water with a piece of seaweed for flavoring. They also bring you garlic, green onions, radish, spicy powder (schichimi), soy sauce and hot chili oil, you can use all these to season your water.
You also get two dipping sauces, that you can season with the stuff above. Using your chopsticks you swish your meat in the boiling water, or if you like it well done, you just toss it in and fish it out when it's cooked. Dip it in the sauce, and eat it over your bowl of rice.

They also give you veggies that you can toss in. At the end they give you a soup base and you can throw in the Noodles to cook them and finish with a soup flavored with the meat and veggies you cooked in the broth.
