...if you can find it in your heart to say a prayer for my M-in-L. please do so....she is being operated on right now and things are looking bleak...I am at school right now, but I am besides myself trying to muddle through - she's been in and out of the hospital 6 times in the last 8,[or so] weeks and she tooka turn for the worse. They think the operation (replacing a valve) has an 85% chance that it WON'T work, but it's either that, or a hospice bad....:sad1:

:hug:Prayers going up!!

So sorry Kim, we went down that road with my MIL, no surgery but 1.5 years in and out of hospitals and SNFs. I hope everything works out. She needs a quality of life worth living for.

Hi Sharon!
How's your weekend so far?

There's something in the air.....

We went to the market this morning and came back to not good news. My FiL has completed his chemo treatment (for leukemia) and was supposed to go home yesterday. He had a fall in hospital and they kept him in.

He has developed a fever and an infection. Turns out the doctors think that his bowel has collapsed; hence the fever and the bacterial infection. Because of the state of his blood, an operation is out of the question. News is not good...and we're still trying to work out what this means. MiL is in hospital with him and has asked that we all stay away....he's in "isolation" and is only allowed one visitor at a time.

Oh, no. I'm so sorry. We just finished our period of elder care which lasted five years. In 2004 on Pearl Harbor Day Fran's mother fell and broke her tibia, that started us on a whole series of medical maladies which lasted for five years. It finally ended on December 27, 2009, but in between there we rushed to every hospital in Long Beach, we learned about most of the Skilled Nursing Facilities, brought Hotcakes and Sausage to her mother when she didn't like the breakfast in the hospital, we brought her McDonald's Cheeseburgers when she didn't like lunch, we came to her when "THEY were coming to get her," when "the hospital was really the morgue and they were chopping apart dead bodies" and she was next.

I hope that Kim nor Sharon are dealing with dementia, but I'm so sorry for both of you dealing with medical issues. It is so difficult, we were always the ones in the thick of it, but I imagine that it is worse if you are left out of the equation and don't know what is going on.

Good luck to you both!

Good Moaning.

They think that FiL does not have a collapsed bowel. Rather there is a lot of fluid collecting around his bowel, intestine etc. They put catheters into him yesterday to help drain the fluid. His stomach is all bloated up.

His eye is all black and blue from the fall yesterday.

It's early in the morning right now and we hope to find out how he was last night shortly.

Sorry to hear about it Sharon, I hope everything works out for the best. :goodvibes

FiL passed away peacefully and with dignity today. He got to say goodbye to all of us. I'll probably be MIA for the next couple of days. :sad1:

I'm so sorry for your loss. If he went that quickly, it must have been meant to be. At least he isn't in pain any longer. :grouphug:

Sharon, I'm so sorry for your family's loss   I'm glad he went peacefully.

Kim, I hope your MIL is doing better, or is at least stable!

Me, on the other hand, I've just been busy with work and trying to sleep and doing Christmas junk with my parents. And I went to see Tron tonight, which was great. Garrett Hedlund in 3D in skintight vinyl... Yum. :teeth:

Hi Dana!

We got some GREAT news today! ! ! ! !

They approved our loan!

There are a few more formalities, we have to give them some insurance documents, explain what we want the money for, and get a statement from our lawyer about our income, but other than that, we should hopefully have some money in the next few weeks and not be so broke anymore!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
