Where's Alison? I hope she reads this.....

I've just been catching up on a TR. The Diser who writes the TR is someone that I met at the Cinco de Mayo meet and who followed my May PTR. I knew her TR was pretty popular but tonight, I took a closer look at the stats.

Seems like she's up to 1400 replies and over 135,000 views! :rotfl2:

So, have you been keeping track of what people are raving about at F&W?

Wow, that's a lot of views! How do you check the stats?

So, have you been keeping track of what people are raving about at F&W?

I haven't been, actually. Most of the time, I tend to disagree with reviews, so I don't bother reading them, especially if it's something I'm really looking forward to or really enjoyed (like movies).

Your stats are found on the sub-forum listing. If you go to the PTR list for the threads in forum, the posts and views are found in the columns on the right hand side. For example, your Boo to Me has 690 replies and 7813 views.

I haven't been checking (too much) the reviews/raves either. I kinda figure that my Aussie/Asian taste buds will be different to most Americans; so there was no point.
I was amused to see that the F&W blog raved about the Australian lamington. One of the Aussies (on the Other Lands section) who went absolutely panned it. :confused3
I think I'll be bringing a pack for Ruthie so that she knows what a semi-decent lamington tastes like. The supermarket bought variety isn't too bad (it's good; but NOT great)....but it will be much better than that in the Aussie stand.

Ah, okay :) Good to know!

One of the reasons that I don't bother with the reviews is because, for example, I loved Sci-Fi when I had dinner there the one time. It wasn't amazing omg gourmet food, but it was still a fun place with good food. But I've seen that a lot of people on the Dis don't like it for some reason :confused3 So, yeah, I avoid reviews unless it's someone I know and trust their opinion :)

I MIGHT be able to stop at the bakery and pick up some pound cake before my flight. It depends on what time they open. Speaking of which, I should probably check that :lmao:

They need an evil laugh smiley on here. :stir: That'll have to do.

The bakery that has the fudge covered pound cake opens at 4:30am Tuesday through Saturday! Looks like I'm bringing pound cake after all! :lmao:

Don't worry about the pound cake. I would hate to have to declare that on Boo to Us! :rolleyes1

But on second thoughts......if it is opened.....and not too much out of the way (evil laugh smiley needed here as well).

You could always do what I'm doing and get serious after your trip :) I'm sort of half-doing it right now (getting into the habit, I guess), but I'm going to seriously work on it when I get back.

But yeah, Weber's is right by Midway, and I'm sure my mom won't turn down kolacky, since she's driving me and she loves their pastries. Besides, at 4:30am, it shouldn't take too long to pick up a pound cake, a couple donuts and kolacky and get going. :)

Sounds great!

Is there anything I can get you from Oz?

And I'm having internet troubles right now. Is your DisBoard running really slow or is it my end?

This will sound odd, but bring me a candy bar. Any kind you think I'd like (you apparently know what I like - chocolate, caramel, nougat, things like that, just nothing with nuts inside it). An old coworker of mine went to England with her husband just before she retired and she brought me a box of Mars Bars :)

I'm not getting email notifs promptly, but aside from that, it's loading fine. I'm also on a very high-speed connection, though. :confused3

Dark, milk, white or a combination ? :rotfl2:

Our commercial chocolate makers include Cadbury and Nestle. They have lots of chocolate variety.
My son loves this chocolate called Caramello Koala. It's about 50g of milk chocolate shaped like a Koala (with a smile on it's face) and filled with gooey caramel on the inside.

Ooh! I'll get you some Tim Tam biscuits. Two chocolate biscuit wafers separated by chocolate cream and coated with chocolate. My favourite!
Are you also up for trying different biscuits....non chocolate chip? I can't believe that all the biscuits sold in the American supermarket are varieties of choc chip! Do you like biscuits with soft/cream filling in the middle?
I might bring an assortment of cream filled biscuits and some with a raspberry filling.

Okay. Leave this with me. Just let me know if you like a combination of milk/white chocolate. Cadbury make a variety known as Top Deck. Milk chocolate at the bottom and white chocolate at the top.

:lmao: I like baked goods period, as long as there's chocolate and no nuts :) The Tim Tams look good, though! :) I'm sure I'll like whatever you choose to bring :teeth:

I'll try and keep it to the chocolate variety (and no nuts) then.

Eating the Tim Tams is an art form; particularly when coffee is involved.
If you take a small bite out of one corner and another small bite out of the corner diagonally across, you can use the Tim Tam like a straw.
Dip one bitten corner into the coffee and suck.
Once you can taste and feel the coffee, stop immediately.
Slurp the whole Tim Tam into your mouth and swallow. Mmmmm. :lovestruc
