Just wanted to give a followup .. Im in the surgery waiting room right now.. Thank goodness they have this free wifi..
Well we got here at 5:30 this morning.. They promptly took her back and started doing everything that was needed.. it was a little overwhelming as there were so many people doing different things at different times..
I could tell towards the end she was starting to get a little scared and nervous.. she has put up such a front this whole time and I could tell it was starting to effect her as it got closer to time.. they had trouble getting the iv started and the anesthesiologist had to come in and put it in.. then he noticed the cough that she always has.. cant remember if I mentioned in an earlier post about her lung problems.. the opening to one of her lungs did not properly form when she born she tends to get infections, pneumonia, etc easy and she tends to keep a cough and congestion, etc most of the time.. shes been hospitalized several times in the past for pneumonia.. well he was hesitant as she had this cough.. he sent her for an xray and did a breathing treatment and then decided to go ahead with it.. He told us to be prepared that she has a high chance of developing pneumonia while she is here and may end up being hospitalized for longer than expected if this is the case.. he said that the fluid will sit and she wont be able to cough it up because she will be in such pain and so it will just sit there and he is looking that there is a high potential of the pneumonia..
They gave her a high dosage of antibiotics that took about an hour.. then she started itching really bad, which they said is normal.. then they gave her some benedryl to stop the itching which knocked her out.. they then came in and gave her some medicine to help her not be so antsy.. poor thing was out.. By this time it was time for her to go back into the surgery room.. so we kissed her bye..
It took about 1 1/2 hours for them to prep her for the surgery and then they were on the way.. They called us once they actually started the surgery and then have been calling us every hour.. they started prepping her around 8 am and its now 1:05 and shes still in there.. Last call they said they have most of the hardware in there and are hoping to be done soon.. they said that there was alot they needed to do..
We are all holding up ok and just want this to be over with.. Just wanted to check in and let you guys know how things were going..
Thank you for keeping her in your prayers! I really appreciate it..
