Here we go again.. Lets try this again shall we??

Just wanted to give a followup .. Im in the surgery waiting room right now.. Thank goodness they have this free wifi..

Well we got here at 5:30 this morning.. They promptly took her back and started doing everything that was needed.. it was a little overwhelming as there were so many people doing different things at different times..

I could tell towards the end she was starting to get a little scared and nervous.. she has put up such a front this whole time and I could tell it was starting to effect her as it got closer to time.. they had trouble getting the iv started and the anesthesiologist had to come in and put it in.. then he noticed the cough that she always has.. cant remember if I mentioned in an earlier post about her lung problems.. the opening to one of her lungs did not properly form when she born she tends to get infections, pneumonia, etc easy and she tends to keep a cough and congestion, etc most of the time.. shes been hospitalized several times in the past for pneumonia.. well he was hesitant as she had this cough.. he sent her for an xray and did a breathing treatment and then decided to go ahead with it.. He told us to be prepared that she has a high chance of developing pneumonia while she is here and may end up being hospitalized for longer than expected if this is the case.. he said that the fluid will sit and she wont be able to cough it up because she will be in such pain and so it will just sit there and he is looking that there is a high potential of the pneumonia.. :sad1:

They gave her a high dosage of antibiotics that took about an hour.. then she started itching really bad, which they said is normal.. then they gave her some benedryl to stop the itching which knocked her out.. they then came in and gave her some medicine to help her not be so antsy.. poor thing was out.. By this time it was time for her to go back into the surgery room.. so we kissed her bye..

It took about 1 1/2 hours for them to prep her for the surgery and then they were on the way.. They called us once they actually started the surgery and then have been calling us every hour.. they started prepping her around 8 am and its now 1:05 and shes still in there.. Last call they said they have most of the hardware in there and are hoping to be done soon.. they said that there was alot they needed to do..

We are all holding up ok and just want this to be over with.. Just wanted to check in and let you guys know how things were going..

Thank you for keeping her in your prayers! I really appreciate it..

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad that they were able to take their time, and I am looking forward to another update.

I am also very glad that they are keeping you guys updated so well!

things have been so far so good.. I was finally able to get some rest.. They've been coming in every 2 hours to move her since she cant lay in one position longer than 2 hours as they dont want her to get bedsores or anything.. They already came in this morning for blood draw.. its funny how when you're in a hospital they wake you up to make sure you're ok :lmao:

Planning on staying here today til around noon than her dad is coming up to stay with her and Im heading home to get a few things done there that need my attention then Im back up here.. Im gonna get my disney books while Im at home and start looking at some of the food choices we will have so I can start thinking of where we can make our ADRs once its time.. mmmm.. Im getting hungry already..

Glad to hear that things have been going well and that you were able to get some rest. I know it's hard to do that when you are at the hospital. My niece just had two metal bars inserted into her chest that have to stay for three years. :sad2: She is 13 and was miserable. It was definitely hard to see her like that.

Good idea to bring your Disney books back with you. Might help pass the time.

I am glad to hear that everything is going well so far...sounds like an interupted night, but I hope that is the worst of it for you!

And the Disney books sounds like a great distraction! I need to do more of that, but I have another upcoming (non-Disney) trip that is sucking up my planning time (terrible I know).

I am home today getting some things taken care of here.. Her dad came up later this morning and is spending the day with her to give me a break for a bit.. I've been there since early yesterday morning..

She is doing soooo good.. They had her up twice yesterday and she walked a few steps and sat in a chair for 10 minutes the first time and 15-20 minutes the second time.. it just wore her out! They have her eating food now and she is no longer on the liquid only diet.. They took the catheter out this morning and she will be up walking today.. actually she wont have a choice because when she needs to go to the restroom she will have to get up.. but I tried to tell her the more she gets up and moves around the better she will be.. she is pretty alert today..

They changed the dressing on her back yesterday and I was excited to see how good it looked.. her right shoulderblade isnt protruding anymore.. its flat like the other one and her back looks really good.. I think she will be happy with it once she is all healed.. and I am happy to report she is now taller than me..:thumbsup2 I am now officially the shortest in the house.. I am about 5'3 1/2".. so now my newly 11 year old is taller than me.. She was 5'1 1/2" before the surgery and she's grown taller than me now.. I joked and said that now I'll have to wear heels around the house now so I wont be the shortest.. :rotfl: :rotfl2: she got a kick out of that one..

One thing I am doing while DD is still in the hospital is get rid of the trampoline that we have here at home.. Ive been debating it for awhile and decided to take it down and get rid of it before she comes home.. I know she would stay away from it while Im home but I just dont want her sneaking on it while I might not be home and then hurt herself.. so I think the best thing to do is get rid of it..

Well I did a little surfing yesterday when she was resting and I am now looking thru our food choices for the trip.. I figured I need to decide where we will go and eat so that once the hours for the parks come out and they open up ADR's I will be prepared, rather than waiting til last minute like I am well known for.. ;) Once Im done with that then I will be looking at the different options for some tours, as me and DH want to do a few tours on this trip.. If I can swing it I want to surprise him with the Petty driving experience as he is a HUGE Nascar fan and he will get a kick out of it.. Im hoping once I go back to work I can get a few hours each payday of overtime and I can put that money back without him knowing it so it will be a big surprise for him..

Im also debating on us going to the waterparks while we are there this time.. We have been to WDW many times but only on our last trip did we did we go to the waterparks when we went with all of our kids and grandbabies.. DH actually didnt go to the waterpark though as he was so tired that day and decided to rest.. but the rest of us had a blast so I think me and him should do this.. I think he will love it.. and its something different.. I love planning for trips..

Thanks everyone for the well wishes on DD..

Thanks for sharing the update. I have been wondering how things are going and am glad to hear that they are going well. :)

Let us know when you find some food choices!

so excited to report that I finally found the 2009 MNSSHP dates and there is 1 day that we can attend while we will be there.. I was hoping there would be 2 so we could pick and choose, but Im just happy that there is at least the 1.. its the night before we leave on the 11th of September.. I dont have tickets for the park this day so I figure we will go to MK at 4 pm and use our MNSSHP ticket to access the park.. I think this will be a good day to sleep in and maybe just relax some..

I've narrowed down some of our food choices and of course this is all subject to change..

so far I have:
-Yak & Yeti (we havent done this one before)
-Flame Tree BBQ (a favorite of ours)
-50's Primetime (another favorite - love the pot roast :woohoo: )
-Either ABC Commissary or Rosies All American Cafe (not sure yet on this one)
-Nine Dragons- tried this before and we liked it alot
-Electric Umbrella
-Tonys Town Square (we havent done this one before)
-Spirit of Aloha dinner (havent done this one before either and Im holding this one back as a surprise for DH)
-Lunch at Whispering Canyon (we havent done this one before)
-Earl of Sandwich
-T Rex (another new one for us)
-1900 Park Fare - breakfast on the day we leave (new to us)
- Cosmic Rays (a huge favorite for us)

I still have 2 more meals to plan, but have no idea yet where to go.. We will have 1 day where we have no parks and thats when we are going to eating places at Downtown Disney.. then we have 1 day in each park.. we have another evening at MK as thats the day we will attend MNSSHP so we will do lunch at Whispering Canyon that day and then Cosmic Rays that evening.. but we still have 1 day that I dont know which park we will be in.. so that days food choices are up in the air.. I guess once the park hours come out that will help me choose which park we will have an extra day in.. Im thinking it will be Epcot.. but who knows..

now onto the tours.. which ones will we do??? hmm .. I'll have to get back with you... ;)

Hi there,

I love 50's, Spirit of Aloha (we've done that three times I think), Cosmic Ray's (yay for the fixins bar), Earl (OMG YUM(, Canyon and Flame Tree (my favorite). Yum. We had really bad luck at Electric Umbrella and the Commissary the lat time we tried them. :sad2: I hope though that our experience was just a one time thing. :goodvibes I love, love, love Flame Tree though. YUMMY.

We have done a couple tours so far and are thinking of the KTTK tour if we can work it in. What are your choices so far?

Sophia

Glad to hear most of the choices are good ones..:goodvibes We go to WDW several times a year normally and we are the kind of people that find a place that we like and stick with it rather than trying new experiences, so this trip is all about new things and that starts with our food choices.. DH loves the buffets but we try to stay away from them as much as we can because I had lapband surgery last year and only eat a small amount of food at a time and I hate paying that much for a meal that I wont eat.. so we tend to stick with places where we can share a meal or he can get a full meal and I stick with an appetizer.. I did go with 1900 Park Fare this time though because DH loves breakfast and I figured we could do this one on our last day before heading home.. Im keeping this one as a surprise for him too.. We've eaten at Electric Umbrella and ABC Commissary before.. they were ok, but definitely not great.. I guess Im falling back to the not liking to try new places.. maybe I need to rethink those 2 places and be more adventurous.. what do you think??

We definitely want to do Keys to the Kingdom Tour... Still trying to decide what else we want to do.. so far in past we have done the Epcot Segway Tour and Behind the Seeds Tour at Epcot.. DH wants to do the Segway Tour at Ft Wilderness but I dont know if Im up for that one.. as I crashed and got hurt on the other Segway Tour.. embarrassingly enough..

Im still looking at the other tours and will report back with what peaks my interest.. Hopefully some of you guys can cue in and tell me what you think...

We are also trying to try new places to eat since over the years we have developed our favorites and gravitate to them every time! It's fun to do but sometimes disappointing and then I kick myself for not going to our favorites. :confused3 Ugh, too many choices. I can't wait to hear your final plans and the new places that you are going to try!

We have done the Behind the Seeds Tour, The Family Magic Tour (had my nephew that trip...the only one he could do) and the Backstage Magic Tour. Loved the all! I am way too chicken to do the Segway tour...yeah, I'll run someone down for sure. I just know it!

I know what you mean about gravitating to the favorites.. DH is very adventurous, while me on the otherhand like the basics.. Im a little harder to please because there is soooo much I dont like.. Im more of a hamburger and hot dog gal and he's more of a seafood, steak and into trying any kind of food he's never had before.. so sometimes its a challenge to make us both happy..

I tried to look at the tours last night and my connection kept messing up.. so Im hoping to get a handle on the tours in the next day or so and get that at least narrowed down to a few that Id like to try.. I think we will try to keep it to 2 since there are so many other things Im wanting to do this trip.. but we'll see..

Im happy to report that DD may get to go home today.. Im hoping so as I know she will feel better at home.. I remember the times Ive been in the hospital and there just isnt anything like home..

She did so good yesterday.. she did have a rough start.. they took her off the pain medicine pump and started giving her pain meds by mouth.. she didnt have much on her stomach when she took the first one of the day and it had been so long since she had had any pain meds so she was having to try to catch up.. she got up a little while after taking it to try to go for a walk and she was hurting so bad and nauseated, which in my opinion is one of the worst feelings ever.. she walked back to her room and layed down.. she was pale as a ghost.. in the afternoon it had subsided and the dr had since came in and changed the medicine and after she got that one she seemed fine.. she got up out of bed and walked for a bit.. and seemed better.. then last night she got up again and walked 3 laps around the entire floor of the hospital! she was definitely better.. I finally got her to eat some of my salad and she loved it.. so if she doesnt eat what they give her today for lunch Im gonna run down and get her a salad..

she slept thru the whole night last night  I was so excited for that!!! The dr mentioned she should go home either Saturday or Sunday.. with as good as she's doing I would imagine before the end of the day she may go home.. Its so odd how they discharge here though.. They discharge at all hours of the day.. when we went for her last walk last night around 10 or 11 I saw they were discharging someone.. I always thought they did it earlier in the day.. One night I saw someone leaving the floor around 8 or 9 at night.. so I guess there is no setfast rules on it here.. so who knows when it will be..

I will report once she goes home though..

I just wanted to thank everyone again for all your well wishes and good thoughts...

well DD didnt get out of the hospital today.. We are still here.. I guess all we can do is see how tomorrow goes..

DH is talking about going to see his mom for a few weeks around Memorial Day.. Im starting to think a 3 day solo trip... I guess I'll have to see if it will pan out... I think just the thought of waiting til September is killing me.. I know I know.. its less than 6 months, but you have to understand, by the time I get to go it will have been 1 year since I was at WDW.. That has to be the longest wait in between trips with the exception of the time span between my first and second trips to WDW.. Last year alone we went 3 times.. its literally killing meeeeeee... :yay: I need help.. seriously...

Glad to hear that DD is doing better. :goodvibes Do you think she'll be home today? It's so much better to recover at home. Around here they wake you up at night half the time to ask you if need anything to help you sleep. :rolleyes1 Drives me nuts! :scared1:

Hmmm, solo trip? Maybe around Memorial Day? :wizard: Guess who will be at WDW Memorial weekend? Yeah, me!!!!!!!!! So if you decide to go that weekend, let me know. Maybe we can meet!?! :flower3:

Im hoping she'll get to go home today.. fingers crossed...

I think she will recover better at home.. she just cant get much rest here.. its just like you said, they wake you up just to ask you if you need anything..:rotfl: not really, but it seems that way.. it seems like just as she gets to sleep, they come in the room to take her vitals again.. She couldnt sleep last night so she stayed up kinda late, but she is sleeping good now.. I figure she'll sleep in today.. They told us last night that it looks like the dr is waiting for her to go to the bathroom.. they gave her something to try to help twice yesterday, but no luck.. they have a suppository ordered for her and may resort to that today if she doesnt do it on her own.. I guess worst case scenario is that she will be here til tomorrow..

Yep Im toying with the idea of a short solo trip.. DH goes to his mom and grandmoms every year for a few weeks and Im thinking of sending him May 18- June 1st.. If he goes at that time Im thinking I may go to WDW on the Friday before Memorial Day and stay til that Monday evening.. Are you doing a solo trip? How long are you there for?? I mainly want to go for the Flower and Garden Festival.. We've gone the last 2 years and I love it when they decorate with all those flowers and such..

I sure hope that your DD gets to go home today. :goodvibes

We are meeting my brother at WDW. He has never gone before and we have been "working on him' so to speak for years. He agreed to Star Wars weekend however I cant wait for the Flower Festival at EPCOT that sme weekened. We will be there from Saturday morning until Tuesday late afternoon. We're staying at Pop this time since we got such a great AP rate. :) Let me know if you decide to go and want to meet.

Oh man.. Thats Star Wars weekend too?? SWWWWWWEET.. Ive been wanting to do that event too.. I'll have to look into that.. I wish I had someone else to work on.. I dont have any members of my family who are even remotely interested in Disney.. :sad2:

Im thinking if I do go I'll fly in Friday night.. it'll probably be too late to do anything that night, so Id probably just go straight to bed then get up early Saturday.. Id have Saturday, Sunday and all day Monday.. I will definitely let you know if I decide to go.. Id love to meet up..

Great! Just keep me posted. Actually, I may as well be on a solo trip because I think Joe and my brother will probably ditch me and do their "guy thing." Happens all the time when we visit. :lmao: Seriously, I am so glad that they get along as well as they do but sheesh, what about me? :rotfl2:
