Here right now - our observations of DP

Why not take the tap water on ice and pour it into a Brita filter bottle! That would be my plan :thumbsup2 !

you shouldn't have to
the brochure says "non-alcoholic beverage" NOT "fountain beverage"

2. Cards - Despite cards not separating credits, as stated, servers are doing a great job of keeping things running correctly. Receipts have total credits at bottom, but, servers (who are real people!) are punching in the info and that is what is important here. Not interested in starting the child/adult credit debate as my feeling is that honest adults know how they should be using the plan, but, at TS restaurants there is no way to "cheat" the system unless the server does so. At CS restaurants where my hubby has gone up to counter by himself, he's been told that he must order 1 meal off of children's menu - eg. Pinnochio Village Haus (terrible kids' menu, but we were hungry). Hubby rushed up to counter as DD was very hungry, didn't notice the kid's menu, so ordered 2 chicken finger meals and a sandwich. The CM immediately cancelled this once she saw my hubby's card (he immediately apologized for the error) as she said he had to order 1 child, and 2 adults, so, CMs are keeping on top of this.

How is that fair to be told you "must" order a kid's meal just because your card says so? If you have 2 adults and 1 child on your card, why should you order 3 meals every time you use it? You should be allowed to order only 2 adult meals if you wanted to. You must be wrong...

Tell me this is NOT what you meant. :sad2:

I have 3 different families in my room. At times we are going our separate ways. Why should I be forced to order 4 meals everywhere I go? That means we have to eat all our meals together! That can't be right!

Question--we're leaving in a couple of days, and my family doesn't drink much soda either. Can we order the iced tea. is that included in the DDP?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly Disney pays nothing for coke its part of the their deal as the offical soft drink. I'm not sure ots the same ffor Dansani, also a Coke product.

I agree- we will have the same situation in a couple of months and dI don't see how they can say that you can only order a certain number or must order a given number. We will not always be eating together so this just doesn't seem right.

OP here - The problem with my scenario was that my hubby accidentally ordered 3 adult meals when we can only order 2 adult meals at once - CM quickly remedied this by cancelling one and we ordered our 1 child meal for DD3.

The OP clarified - they were not forced to order meals for everyone - they just couldn't order 3A, to get three meals they had to order 2A and 1 C

Pretty much every CS place we've eaten at has NOT allowed bottled water as you have to use a snack credit for that. Even some CS places like Chefs de France (had a terrible meal there last night) won't let us order bottled water - tap water only.

CS places we've eaten are:

Pinnochio Village Haus, Studio Catering Company, Earl of Sandwich, comes to mind. I don't have my exact receipts in front of me now, so I can't give you anymore restaurant names at this time (DD is ready to go to the castle right now-LOL!) Not sure about Tusker House as I had a bottle of water with me. We have not been taking the fountain drinks in these cases, and I even offered to give up 2 fountain drinks for 1 juice (they'd be making money), but they all said no. Earl of Sandwich manager let us do it once as I explained we don't drink pop.

Some of these places have had a small juice box, but most are only allowing fountain drinks.

Tiger

In June, we got bottled water as our beverage at Pop food court, Tusker House, Pecos Bills and the cs place at Blizzard beach. No problems , no questions, I ordered it, they used my CS credits and gave us our food.

Yes, It's unsweetened . Not a problem for my dh but he heard people wanting "sweet tea".

I wonder, if you have 4 adults on your plan for example, can you order 5 counter service meals at one time? Sounds like that was more what the OP was saying. I know my son sometimes wants 2 of something....you can order as many snacks at once right? I wonder if it was just because of the child/adult issue or because of the possibility of sharing the plan with someone not on it.

In May I was at POFQ and to use up the last of my cs credits I ordered 4 A cs meals (the card said 2A). There was no problem.

Not thrilled about the whole bottled water thing - as was posted before - it is presented in the brochure as a nonalcoholic drink. Would like to keep the kids sugar intake under a gazillion grams/day if possible (although they would be thrilled to get the fountain drink at all meals) and I have a very sensitive stomach and wouldn't try anything but bottled water. I'm starting to feel a little nickel and dimed. Like the brochure says, though, subject to change without notice... :sad2:

I need clarification on this...are you saying if my card says 2 A and 2 C I cannot use my 2 A credits and pay oop for the 2 kids? We are treating some guests (1 A , 2 c ...so no I'm not trying to use Child credits for Adults) to CRT which requires 2 TS credits to dinner for DD bday. I am trying to save up credits so that I can pay all on DP for this meal as I've heard it's all DP or all OOP for meals like this. I've played with my credits and I would have way too many extras if I paid this meal all OOP. These rules are getting so confusing. I guess I just don't want to make a big deal out of having to pay the bill when it's our treat for a BD celebration...so it's easiest for me just to bank credits. Hope this all makes sense.

first of all we are paying over $2000 for the DDP so it is not part of the "free dining" even though we will be there in that time frame since we are at DVC resort.
Our cards will say 5A 1C and if we go to US for a day there will be those credits sitting there waiting to be used as we plan to eat at Jungle Jims on the way back in the evening. We want to use the credits to treat the person (a relative who lives in the Orlando area) who is providing the free US tickets to dinner at Kona Cafe the next night so would have 7A 1C in the group. Maybe we will have to divide into two tables of 4 and 5 (we also have a 16mo who is not on the plan). We are not trying to use child credits for adults just trying to use the ones we won't use if we go off property for a day. Maybe I'll get flamed but I don't see why Disney should care if I use a total of 6 or all 60 credits in one day. In fact if I use DDP credits to treat someone else I may then have to pay additional OOP for meals that won't be covered later in the trip if I don't leave WDW during the trip and they will be ahead of the game.

I agree with you but that is what Disney is trying to avoid by the Non-Transferable part. They don't want you going to Universal and spending money. They want you to stay on-site to spend it. And if you have guests visiting you they want them to spend their money to eat. They are in the business of making money and they see treating others to meals from you plan as a money losing proposition.

It appears from all of the threads going on that you will not be able to order more meals than people appear on your card i.e. if your card says 2A, 2C, you cannot order TS meals with 4A, 2C at the table, even if you've saved up your credits to do it. This appears to be their "non transferable" issue. Even if you've paid OOP for another meal for the 2A on the card, and saved 2A credits to use for guests visiting another night, you are ordering more A meals at one time than appear on the card. Many are saying this will be denied because WDW doesn't want you covering the meal of someone off site or not on the DDP.

Even when it's something as simple as M&D live in the Orlando area, put us up for 3 nights before our trip and have FL resident passes and we want to treat them to dinner one night so we're going to pay OOP for a CS meal one night to save our 2A TS credits to use on them the next night, WDW seems to be denying patrons the opportunity to do this. The language in the brochures that states that you can use your credits any way you see fit sort of contradicts the statement that you cannot transfer (in this case buy someone else a meal) but that seems to be the way they are closing one of the judged "loopholes." So you might not be able to treat guests at CRT for your daughter's birthday and you should be prepared in the event they deny you the chance to do so and expect you to pay OOP for the entire thing.

Going back to another issue, if I can get unsweetened iced tea, I'll be fine. Although honestly, I'd prefer a bottle of cold water (I don't have a brita bottle and have not seen the carry ones for sale here in my area for a long time, and don't want something hanging off my shoulder or stroller) and will not drink tap water. My older one would probably be fine w/ lemonade but when it's hot, sugary drinks really don't quench the thirst successfully. My little guy will drink some of the unsweetened tea and some of the lemonade so I guess we'll be fine.

If I have to use a snack credit for a bottle of water, I guess I'll have to but I'd prefer to be able to get it as my non alcoholic beverage at lunch and use the snack credit for something else.

Agreed, us too. Actually I had to get several meals, though our card said 2A and we had one day left to use the extras, so I stood in line with my card and hubby stood in line with his card. I got 2 CS meals and he got 2 CS meals, problem solved.

I agree, this is exactly how we feel too. If I use my TS credits (adult) to pay for family and friends we are treating that night, that usually means that we are paying OOP to eat a meal elsewhere on Disney property during our trip. Disney is still getting my money because I gave TS credits away. We too paid for the DDP for 12 nights in April/May and only used half of our CS credits. We used the remainder for family members who arrived later. They also helped us use up our snack credits as we ended up with about 12 snack credits with 2 days left on our trip....yikes, not sure how that happened, just never hungary. I never thought I was doing anything dishonest by treating others with my credits, especially since I paid for them. I assumed that non-transferable was disney's way of not wanting people to sell their remaining credits, then folks go to use them and find that there are none left--sort of like selling partial park tickets to find that they are no good.

When I was there in February we were allowed @ CS (not TS) to get bottled water...I will see if I have pics with them in it and post after. We never paid OOP for ANYTHING while there, so I know we weren't charged for bottled water.
Some of our CS's included:
Tusker House
Peco's Bills
Electric Umbrella
POR resort food court

The only other way I could see for getting all adult CS meal on the DDP without it being an issue is for example:

2a
2c

You both get in line with your cards (there is usually quite a few lines to stand in ;) ) and then use your own card for 2 adult meals each= 4 adult meals (since everyone should have a room key being used as their *ticket*). I am going adult only so it doesn't effect me and don't applaud *cheating the system* so to speak as others think, but I think this would work for anyone wanting to do it this way.
