Here now, weird stuff at park opening....

currently in line for DL. Got to security at 7:15, thought it odd that DCA gates were not open for EMH but whatever. DCA EMH gates opened at 8, at 8:15 DL gates are still closed, and app now says park hours are 9-12 when they were 8-12 all days leading up to today. Wonder what gives?

ETA: User error! Apparently hours on the Disney site were updated a few weeks ago. I had been getting my info from the weekly updates on MousePlanet which as of this writing are still showing the inaccurate 8 am opening.

I'm looking at wdwinfo.com and it also says the parks open at 9am. But I can't say what they said yesterday.

I didn't check yesterday, but last I checked before arrival, and all the times I checked leading to it, park opened at 8 am our entire stay. Guess I need to check every day

Now they are showing hours at 9 am all week, not just today. Frustrating.

And the cast members are saying HSM doesn't open until 10 all week. Cost cutting at it's finest!

We're not there today but will be there the rest of the week. The hours I've seen have said 9 am for a couple of weeks. Again, I didn't check today's hours, so maybe there was something wrong with today's schedule online. Interesting about HSM, though! That's likely to throw a wrench in a lot of plans!!

The hours for this week starting today, Monday Aug. 8, have said 9 AM for at least 2-3 weeks now. I remember looking over the August calendar several times and specifically noticing that the hours changed to 9 AM openings the week after our planned visit and being glad that I had chosen last week. We have visited during this week of August in the past and had 8 AM openings though. For comparison's sake, they seem to have switched from 8 AM to 9 AM openings one week earlier than last year.

Didn't ruin it per se, just caught me off guard. I read mouse planets weekly updates and get the hours from there, so my fault! Mouse planets update this morning still shows hours at 8 am this week and next week. That'll teach me to check the actual website.

Every website does its best. I've taken to using the Disneyland official app, though, because of instances like this.

Count yourself lucky at DL. We had regular 9am - 10pm hours at the Magic Kingdom in WDW in July.

It might not be cost cutting; they might be doing maintenance and plan on opening later in the day rather than take the attraction offline for a full day or days. They've done that in the past, so it's possible that they're doing that now. It'll be interesting to see what happens; the Disneyland.com calendar has HyperSM opening at 10:00 am Mon-Wed and then back to the same hours as the parks on Thursday.

I've done that before-- neglected to check the official schedule in the couple of days before, and showed up to find they'd changed it to an hour later. But yeah, all the earlier for rope drop, I guess.

Still though-- 9 a.m. in August? Wow. I'm pretty sure this is another #thanksShanghai#

Seems like opening HSM at 10 would make for really long lines before it even opens. At least when it opens at park opening there's no line if you head straight there. There's bound to be people heading over and getting in line early ...
