. Sorry but I have 2 kids I just don’t need to inconvenience others by letting my child sit in the stroller until we hit the door of the bus. Stnading in line for a few minutes won't kill them and it might actually do them some good. Plus when my 4 year old rode in a stroller we rented them in the parks because there was no need to lug that thing onto the buses he was very capable of walking from the gate to the bus with no problem .

I don't go to WDW as much as some here, but I do always stay on site and always use the buses. Never had a huge problem with people with strollers or people on ECVs/wheelchairs. Not saying that there aren't problems, but I've never been delayed more than a couple of minutes.

Stuns me that folks spend thousands on wdw trips but will not pay $20/day for a rental car. Nothing could put our family at the mercy of being bussed around during vacation.

I can afford a rental car... I have no desire to drive on vacation. I don't want to deal with car seats and parking. I also don't care about the # of strollers, ECVs on the bus with me . I am in no rush.. I am on vacation. Maybe I am in the minority. If we are bored on the bus, DH and I will strike up a conversation with people -- we have met some very nice and interesting people that way!

Yes, this poster has a rather off-putting way of posting that sticks out. I remember her from other threads, as well.

We have never had issues with strollers or scooters on the buses causing huge delays, either.

Finding a good price on a rental car is way more fun than waiting for the bus. It's become a game with my DH and I to see who can find the best rate because it only takes one trip without a car to realize that it's an added expense that is sometimes priceless....and if you can afford to stay the Poly, CR or GF, you should be able to factor in the cost of the rental.

It's well worth not having to deal with other people's strollers and cranky pants, because our own stroller and cranky pants is enough!

I posted earlier that we've never had a problem with the buses either because, like you put it, it's vacation. I am going someplace where 10's of thousands (or more likely 100's of thousands) of other people are going as well. There are going to be lines, there are going to be waits, there are going to be delays, there are going to be rude people, there are going to be people who run into you by accident. If you go into the vacation realizing that this is just the way things are going to be and enjoy your vacation anyway then you are more likely to not let these things bother you. If you go into the vacation just waiting for these things to go "wrong" then every little thing will set you off and you'll be irritated the whole trip.

The blatantly rude people (saying sarcastic comments, expecting everyone to kowtow to their wants) are the worst. The tired parents trying to deal with strollers and tired kids, the wheelchairs, the ECVs, the bus delays, the days of pouring rain - those don't bother me. You've got to be patient and let those things just happen. It's out of your control anyway.

I'll add my .02 to this thread.

I have no problems waiting for an ECV to load. It takes a little longer but in the grand scheme of things what's an extra 5 minutes. What I do have a problem with is the way the loading system works.

If I've been standing in line for 20+ minutes at the end of a day waiting for a bus and someone with an ECV comes up , the are let on immediately with no wait and, in turn, those that are waiting might miss that bus. Now WDW has spent millions and has built attractions so that people with ECV's can remain in the queue the same way as those without ECV's but for some reason the buses don't work that way and an ECV essentially takes up 4 seats (ECV = 3 + a seat for the passenger). 2 ECV's on a bus makes 8 passengers have to wait another 20+ minutes (worst case scenario) for another bus.

What can be done about this? I really don't know. That's just my .02 cents though. I know some may take my post the wrong way. I'm not being spineless or prejudice towards anyone in an ECV and I'm not judging any person in an ECV. What I"m saying is that the WDW system needs work.

Someone said a few pages back that the best way to help Disney fix this is to email them and let them know your thoughts and experience. They can't fix something unless they know what the problem is.

Funny, I thought WDW was a destination for everyone, not just children.

What a grand way to celebrate Veterans Day - honoring the injured and dead from military events. Maybe riding an ECV.

It was embarrassing for us to be let on before those that got there before us but, the ECV has to be strapped down & secured so thats why they have to go on first. Thats why we stopped using the buses, we felt we inconvenienced people.

I use an ECV because I NEED it! It is my own, & I ride it each day while I am going to therapy, doctor appointments, doing errands, teaching music students, & completing my housework, etc.

PLEASE don't put me down because I ride an ECV. I have a spinal cord issue, and will never be able to stand without being a falling risk. But - if you look at me while I am seated, then I look just as fine as you do. It doesn't mean that I want to take YOUR seat on the bus. (I am actually fine with your suggestion of separate buses for ECV's. I agree.)

I am very sorry that it takes so long to load the ECVs on the bus. I am not thrilled with how long I take either. I wish I could move faster. It would be a lot of fun!

Thank you so much for your post. With all of the back & forth on this thread I think this point gets lost.

FWIW - my family just visited the World in October & yes, we noticed a significant increase in ECV usage in the parks & on the buses. DH has severe hip & back issues at 38 yrs old that will likely land him in a scooter in the near future, at a very young age. It will likely be difficult to tell how badly he'll NEED that scooter because for all intents & purposes he looks & acts healthy otherwise.

So for now when we are delayed by an ECV user I take that moment & concentrate on my gratitude. Gratitude that DH isn't "there yet", that "for today" he is still able to walk independently. I also internally reflect at how LUCKY I am that once we are cleared to board the bus, I will take my healthy DD's hand & we will WALK onto the bus, off of the bus, to our room & all over God's Green Earth because we are BLESSED to be HEALTHY. All of that can change in the blink of an eye, so it is important to appreciate it TODAY.

There are many, many things worthy of irritation in this world. Having a little patience while someone else struggles isn't, in my opinion, one of them.
