Wow. I could care less about strollers and wheel chairs on buses. I am happy to see children and those with a handicap enjoy Disney. If only all children could take that all in! So what you had to wait. You never waited all day.

The only thing I hated on a packed bus was people standing holding young children, or children standing, or older folks standing when adults were sitting. So many people thinking the world goes around them. Myself or my husband never ever sat when there was someone who needed it more then us.

If only the world held a little more good in it!

We were there during a busy week last summer,took the buses everywhere, and had no problems beyond the usual annoyances you have when a lot of people are contained together.

Then again, I take the city bus everywhere at home, and so it's business as usual for me. I think some people who aren't used to public transportation get overwhelmed themselves, and also end up inadvertently getting in other people's way, too.

I agree with you i take the bus at home and sometumes have my niece in a midsize stroller i can fold with one hand its alot easier when you do it all the time

Absolutly true! My entire childhood I wanted so badly to visit and never had the chance. Most kids I know will never get the chance to go at all, so if the bus is full of happy people enjoying WDW then it's a wonderful day.

Just popping in to say that, I may be in the minority here, but I love the Disney bus system.

I find the busses clean, convenient, and amazingly prompt. We've never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a bus, and 90 percent of the time it's usually just 5 or 10 minutes. I love it when the bus driver gets everyone on the bus singing. I like chatting with the people I meet on the bus, too. They're almost all so happy and friendly. I love to see a pregnant woman or parent with small child, being passed to the back of the bus because someone's found a seat for them. I've heard people shouting from the back saying, "There's a seat here!"

For years my husband would say, "I take the bus to work every day, I'm not going to take one on my vacation!" But then he experienced the Disney bus system for himself while attending a work conference. And he was won right over.

It's so convenient for him to simply grab a coffee on our way to the bus stop in the morning, hop on a bus, and find himself disembarking at the gates of the park inside of 10 minutes (20 if we're going to the Magic Kingdom). No parking hassles, no extra cost, no responsibility! We'll be staying on site from now on, in large part because he thinks the bus system is worth the extra cost of a Disney resort.

As someone who uses a wheelchair but CAN walk some distances we wait in line with the wheel chair and carry it on. (it is a transport chair, folds up and is lightweight) You would be surprised how many times we get on the bus with the chair and it is standing room only and NO ONE offers their seat.NOTE that I realize it is my choice to board the bus and have indeed waited for a less crowded bus when my ankle is bothering me and I need a seat. Just think it is ironic when people could easily put a child on their lap and offer a seat. But that is part of the deal.

As to strollers though, these huge ones whether from rentals or not, are really out of control. We've experienced parents struggling with them, and I have to ask if it is really worth it? How about buying a couple of inexpensive umbrella strollers and using those? I think most kiddos would be just fine and it is easier to transport on buses and to those around you who it bangs into as you carry it on the bus. Would really make it easier on everyone and as for the big ones being able to hold so much, really how much do you need that a backpack won't hold? (assuming no special needs of course). Thinking back when mine were young, it was so much easier to travel lighter. Might help some folks to rethink what they really do need for a day at the parks.

It's next to impossible for one person to push 2 umbrella strollers at the same time. For a family of five just our jackets alone would take 2 backpacks. Yes it's worth it. Plus we get to skip the bag check area cause we don't have bag. Bonus!

I agree that small children could be seated on parents' laps during busy bus times, and a lot of times they are. But I don't get families with small children getting on a packed bus knowing it is standing room only, and yet they cram on, huge stroller and all My husband and I really need to sit at the end of a long day, and do not want to put anyone on the spot by getting on late, and someone that's also tired, offering (or not) their seat. We just step back, say we are waiting for the next bus, and if anyone else wants to brave the standing, go on ahead of us. I just don't think it's fair to expect people to automatically get up and offer seats to those that won't wait. My dh will still get up sometimes, even though he needs to sit because of his knees, but we were raised to do so.

When there's two parents, why would one have to push two strollers? Also, how do you skip bag check with stroller and bags in it. We've never seen anyone do that? Unless, you have nothing in the stroller but kids only.

Yes, the huge strollers are allowed, but that doesn't mean that they're not a very real nuisance and inconvenience to everyone else on the buses because there is literally no place to safely put them.

Seems like a silly reason to be stunned. When on vacation, even those of us who are owners, do not want to drive, cook, clean, talk on the phone, be on a laptop, etc. We go to Disney to get away from real life, not to continue it in another state.



For the OP and others who feel the same - if you are upset about the limited bus space due to ECVs and strollers, the best thing you can do is write Disney and let them know your experience (removing all of the emotion) and let them know that you would like for them for find a more efficient way to accommodate guests who wait on the bus longer than the wheelchairs and their families. They need to know there is a problem from their guests and then they can look at a way to resolve it. It might result in CMs at the bus stops directing who gets on first, etc. You have to let them know so they can do something about it.

Or five. Or a locker. If you need jackets now, you're probably still going to need jackets long after your children outgrow strollers. Part of the delay boarding buses is people needing to not only remove the child/ren from the stroller, but also all the extra stuff it's being used to haul.

It's really disheartening to hear the stories of folks who get grief from the ECVs. That's why my mom won't go to Disney with me...she would need one and she's afraid she'll be an inconvenience to us and everyone around her.

Don't give up - it took me years to convince my Mum for the same reasons, she didn't want to be a burden. Yeah, you get the eye-rolls BUT they are nothing compared to the joy your Mum will feel. Now my Mum wants to go every year lol

While this is probably the case infrequently, some people could have unseen issues that require them to sit or take a rest. I have bad knees so if I need to take a break and sit, I'm going to. However if it's not awful and I see someone with an infant or an elderly person, I will offer my seat.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the new transportation monitors at some resorts.

So very, very true. But like you, on most days if I see someone holding a small child, or someone over the age of, 50 I too suck it up and stand. It's just the "right" thing to do in my opinion. But occasionally there are days where I just can't

What if DH wants to ride a ride and I want to walk across the park to get fast passes? It means we would never be able to split up.

Yes we did go in the no bag entrance because we don't bring bags, we use the stroller as a bag. They just look under the stroller and wave us along.

My stroller is no more a nuisance than your wheelchair. And no more annoying than a bus full of scooters that take up 3 seats a piece.
