Here now. Need well wishes.

Thanks for the update. Glad you could get around some and that WDW set you up with a scooter. Enjoy the rest of your trip. (Which your son might remember as the trip with the special mommy ride :p)

Your best requires all information about a patient, right? Wouldn't you want to do something different for someone who has to chase a toddler on an active vacation (and can't rest much) than you would for someone with a desk job who can rest their foot most of the day? I think the suggestion is that to allow you to do your job to your best, you need the nitty gritty reality of a patients day-to-day activities that allow (or not) different types of care. Not all patients need exactly the same care - your best takes each patients needs into consideration, right? :flower3:
So, not better - just different based on the individual's situation, right? You didn't mean to imply medical professionals would treat a mother with a foot injury and a toddler in any suprior manner to the way they treat any other patient with an injured foot, did you?

In my own experience, they treat the injury. I've broken one leg three times and each time the treatment is different.

Boo Bear, I'm so glad you are ok. Glad to hear about the ECV, too. Maybe GS can write some kind of note you can show if anyone gives you any trouble? I know it's not typical, but neither is your situation! Good luck, and I hope everything gets better! :goodvibes

I'm so sorry to read about your accident!

I'm glad Disney is helping you out with the scooter and how great on the upgrade! Pixie Dust!

I sure hope things go better for you and Liam tomorrow.

I will say an extra prayer for you both ;)

Keep us updated! I'm sure many here will be thinking of you!

Ok here's my update. Disney is paying for my scooter, which is already here. So far no complaints at the resort about having DS on my lap. That is really my only option right now so I really hope nobody gives me grief in he parks about having DS with me. Seeing as how I was injured on Disney property, I sure as heck hope not. I'm not stranger to ankle injuries or broken bones. I'm positive that nothing is broken. It mostly hurts when I put weight on it. I spoke with a nurse and it's likely a bad sprain and dislocated metacarpal. I was able to hobble around the room and get mostly unpacked. Thanks for all the well wishes! Now here's to not getting crap from CM's in the park. *dear Lord, all I want for Christmas is for DS to ride with me on my scooter*

Please remember that it is actually the rule that little ones not be allowed to sit on the scooters. So they will not be "giving you crap" but doing their jobs. If it comes to it, hopefully you can find another way to still tour the parks without him being on your lap. Good luck!

Thank You, Well Said!!!!
I never said that the OP should not discuss her needs with the Medical Professionals. I totally agree that it is important to share as much information as possible so that the appropriate treatment can be instituted.

OP, I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks everyone. We're at DHS waiting for RD. My ankle is garbage today. It looks so bad. I'll be going to get it checked out tomorrow. I hope I didn't tear something. It hurts but I took some Advil and have it wrapped with ice. The guy checking my bag said DS was ok to ride. He's only 2. Idk what they'd expect me to do otherwise. Off to have fun!

I hope you have a great day with your son despite the injury. I admire your tenacity!

I wasn't implying anything - just offering a possible explanation for a wording that otherwise offended someone. I don't think anyone in this thread has meant that certain demographics do or should get "superior" care. I was just trying to be helpful.

As someone who has had ankle injuries before, today and probably tomorrow will be your "bad" days. Good luck.

Thanks everyone! We had a great morning and are now back at AoA for DS nap and mommy ice & elevate break. We'll head back to DHS for our Frozen fun filled evening in a few hours! We rode TSMM, met Buzz & Woody, saw the Disney Jr. show and went to the H&V Disney Jr. Character lunch. Our bus driver on the way back gave DS a special Rudolph candy cane for being a big boy and walking into the bus ahead of mommy with him. So far all of the CM's have been great. The magic isn't gone from our experience!

I came here specifically to see how you were getting along today. Sorry your ankle is worse but I'm so glad they are allowing you to ride around with your son!

Oh dear, I hope you are better tomorrow. Please let us know what happens after the x-ray. You have a great attitude and are making the best of an unfortunate situation, I applaud you for that! Hope you get some rest later, and please keep checking in with us. :)

Get that x-ray. If it's broken, you can become an honorary "Cast" member...

:rotfl2::lmao: nice!

On my way to get the X-ray. Disney is paying for a babysitter. Hopefully it won't take too long. I'll update with results. Thank you everyone!

Just an anecdote to share: Years ago I executed a graceful exit from a shuttle at the Newark airport that resulted in a nasty ankle sprain. It was painful, probably around an 8 on a scale of 1-10. When I got home, I had the x-ray to determine the damage and when the doc told me it was sprained, he told me I'd be in less pain and heal faster if the ankle had actually broken! The serious pain subsided after a few days, but that ankle wasn't back to normal for nearly a year.

Sounds like Disney is helping out with the logistics, glad to hear that. Hope you're feeling better and will enjoy the remainder of your trip. :earsboy:

Checking in to see how you're doing. I hope your ankle is ok, and that you got a chance to have some fun today!
