Had an awesome first day yesterday. Thank you our American neighbours for having such a great place to visit!

Crowds were not bad at all for a Saturday with mini gay days and the food and wine we found. I didn’t notice one redshirt for gay days but saw a LOT of people enjoying F&W!

Max pass was great! We got so much done. Never waited more than 15 min for anything. So worth it and easy to use. Didn’t drain my battery like I anticipated though. We took a break after 9 hours in the park and it was only at 85%. I have an iPhone 8 Plus, and had wifi off and low power mode turned on. Used the app for all fast pass returns too. Had a portable charger with me just in case though.

Wifi. My son had no problem using it in the parks. I never even tried out of what I read. He has a Google Pixel phone and used it for most of the day. He told me this as we were leaving at the end of the day though! Kids!

Cleanliness. Place was in tip top shape. No garbage anywhere but in the bins.

Mission Escape! Oh man what a fresh coat of paint! We LOVED it and road it a few times. Makes me optimistic for Screamin although it’s so weird seeing the pier undressed like that.

Magic Morning walk onto Peter Pan, if you hussle it was walk on, had just a handful of people ahead of us. Glad that box is ticked now! As we came out we bumped into non other than the flying green clothes guy himself.

4 more days left at the parks but off to Warner Bros today so I won’t see Rob! Hope he has a great Sunday in the park as always. It’s Mr. Blue Sky out there today!!

Cheers! The DIS Rocks!

Please share any feedback on the Warner Brothers tour. We are thinking about adding this to our trip next month.

Sounds like you had fun. We'll be there this afternoon/evening and tomorrow morning. I'm expecting it to be busy, but since we don't have our kids it'll be ok. Hoping tomorrow morning will be good.

I’m glad to hear you’re having a good time! MaxPass really is awesome and it’s good to hear your son is having luck with the wifi because I sure didn’t. Maybe they’ve improved it, that would be a good thing!
Enjoy the rest of your trip!!

suppose it’s like the ticking crocodile, isn’t it? Time is chasing after all of us......regardless of our hustle...however intrigued by " Glad that box is tickled" never heard of the phrase.

OP said "ticked" not "tickled". To say "that box is ticked" means that there was a tick (as in a check mark) placed next to a line item on a list (either physical or mental) to mark said line item as done/complete.

In this case, the OP was able to ride Peter Pan which was one they wanted to ride and were able to complete the task early in their trip so that it is not a big worry for the rest of their time.

Hi from another Canadian! We are going in August with discounted passes, and I have been following your preparations. It’s great that you are having such a wonderful trip so far. We have a few days near LA first so are also interested in knowing what you think of the Warner Bros tour (our DS are 18 and 15). It was so great reading all your positive posts leading up to your trip. You never seemed to let any of the potential negatives get you down. We know it will be busy and hot in August but are just going to be happy to be there! Although a trip right now away from the Calgary cold and snow would sure be nice!

I'm here now too and having a blast!

I, too, was surprised how manageable DCA was today considering it was opening weekend of F&W...

Ahh, an insight into my (very stereotypical I'm afraid) CA mind: "Rain!!! Even a chance is like the worst thing ever. Festival will be there next weekend. Why have everything ruined by RAIN this weekend?!" ...did you even get a sprinkle down there? Lol. Probably not! I swear I saw rain in the forecast for Anaheim a few days ago...

But in all seriousness I'm headed down next week and my thinking is going "No rain! No rain! No rain!!!!!" Funny how important rain is but I, and many others in SoCal, just prefer it happen while I'm sleeping and not muck up my sunny CA day ;)

So glad you guys are off to a great start! Sounds like the first day at DLR was a great one. :) We've found the same thing about battery life with MP. It doesn't always drain the phones the way we expect, but we always have back up anyway. What kills the battery (for the iPhone 6, at least) is when we hit a string of must do photo ops (sometimes it's like all the characters conspire against our phone batteries!) and MP -- then we use all the battery plus the portable charger, too.

and now a word from Emily Litella ....

Ticking a box (British English) and Checking a box (American English) mean the same thing and are generally understood on both sides of the Atlantic.

The respective processes may be interpreted as:

checking the box -> there is a box, and mark it with a check mark if you want to select it (This is commonly used in hard copies [forms])

ticking the box -> there is a box, and click it to mark the same with a check mark (if you want to select it). (common in online forms/surveys etc.)

Moreover, "checking the box" is more flexible, since those who live in the era where forms are answered in hard copies can automatically interpret it as to selecting the option available. Ticking the box may not be that simple for a person who is not a technological savvy.

'Ticking' is similar to 'clicking' (hence, all the results caused by clicking is possible). 'checking' is not similar to clicking, but you need to click in order to place a check mark in online forms.

Hence, in online forms, the two are technically equivalent (per common sense/experience of computer users).

1. wanted to show our support for your time here on the site and on your visit, of which we all value
2. I thought I saw the word Tickle, maybe a reference to the imagines in the novel and Barre twist of words in Peter Pan
3. Being a linguist historian, Tick was odd and how it was used. I would think more of a bucket list event to ride Peter Pan first thing than a daily agenda of boxes, so I learned something new (research is showing that " tick" may over come the word "check" now with hand held devices) and ready for that as a Jeopardy question
4. Tick, great reference to time chasing us indeed
5. Emily Litella could win someone money in a trivia contest.
6. Thimbles to everyone!!!!!
