Our daughter is on her way down here and just let me know she's let her puffer run empty. Her a asthma is humidity triggered so she needs it!!! Where is the closest clinic we can take solve this epic fail on her part? We have a car so transportation isn't an issue.

Kids, NEVER grow up, do they ? (She's almost w28 and married !)

I believe Turner Drugs delivers to the resorts, or I believe there are Walgreens, CVS, Target and Walmart locations nearby. Ask at the front desk. But also have her check her insurance for accepted pharmacies.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks for the quick response but i think there might be another level of *help* needed. We're from Canada so i don't think the drug store will just refill the script based on the empty canister will they? I'm thinking we'll need to even take her to see a doctor won't we??

Insurance isn't a problem, she has out of country coverage and i think will just need to contact them before she goes anywhere to get clearance.

I would call your insurance compiney they may know what you need to do to get it refilled ( like if you need to see a DR or not)

Offsite Urgent Care
Florida Hospital Centra Care Walk-In Urgent Care Centers are open 8:00 AM to midnight, Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday.

Complimentary transportation is available and many insurance plans are accepted. Call (407) 934-2273 for more info.

or you can do this probable more money

Resort Hotel Services

In-room medical services are also available at all Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Simply touch “Front Desk” from your in-room phone for assistance, 24 hours a day.

I think both will have MD see your child

I don't know how your insurance works. Living here in the States, when I need an emergency refill I first call my doctor's office, and the doctor then calls the pharmacy to place the order. Considering you are from Canada, I'm not sure if it works that easily. If she needs to be seen, she can probably go to a minute-clinic or urgent care; I've also read of "concierge" doctors who will come to your resort. She definitely needs to contact her insurance before doing anything (if nothing other than to be aware of coverage amount or reimbursement process). I know you are trying to help so it doesn't waste a lot of your vacation time, but I'd let her resolve it; she got herself into this pickle. At the very least, I think she owes you dinner for doing the upfront research for her :)

Enjoy your vacation!

Your daughter is TWENTY EIGHT years old and you are dealing with her prescriptions? No wonder she never grew up. Let her deal with it.
Well thanks for the sympathetic comment! Yes she's 28, yes she *should* be a responsible adult and deal with this herself! HOWEVER, we're here now, she's joining us and i simply thought i could do the legwork to find out the answer before she actually arrive. She didn't discover a puffer that she only uses when it's humid was empty until she got to the airport because we live in Canada and it currently isn't humid at home. She did make sure she has every other script she needs while down here filled and in properly labeled bottles to get thru customs safely, forgot one and I see nothing wrong with trying to help her out in this situation.

If a moderator would be so kind as to close this thread for more comments I'd appreciate it, i have my answer and don't need anymore comments on her ability to cope with this on her own. There are other issues i chose NOT to disclose.

I've got one other suggestion.
I'm assuming she will have the bottle with her. You could try contacting the Pharmacy the prescription is from and see if they have any ideas.
I don't know the rules regarding sending drugs from one country to another, but it might be possible that they could fill the prescription and overnight delivery it to you.
She is very likely not the first person this has happened to, so they may already have some steps to deal with it.

You could also try her doctor at home to see if they have any suggestions. At the very least, if she needs to see an MD in the US to get a new prescription, they may be able to fax information to the doctor's office in Florida that would make the proceed easier.
