Hello!
After 5 great nights at OKW,Friday we checked into AKL concierge. The only request we made was bunk beds. We were given room 6202. This is a non-smoking bunk bed room with a Sunset savannah view. I did try to upgrade to a suite, but ther was nothing available our first night and we didn't want to move again. This is our 3rd stay here on concierge, with previous trips being on the 5th floor. We were quite happy to get a 6th floor room this trip. The view is partial blocked by the thatched roof, but there is still plenty of visiblilty. There is not a huge variety of animals and we have seen all the birds including Ostritch, Giraffe and the Cattle. We are happy being so close to the lounge, but might have been disappointed if this was our first stay here. We did the Sunrise Safari yesterday and it was great. We even had a giraffe try to munch on the vehicle.
My daughther has enjoyed doing crafts by the pool. Friday she made a doll for $5 and Sat she painted an Ostrich egg for $20. I think these are the only 2 days they have fee activities.
Last night I purchased a beautiful print of the AKL and Savannah with the artist, Larry Dotson, there to personalize.
Today we are experiencing our first real thunderstorm so the weather hasn't been too bad.
Tuesday we move over to the Poly. I hope we don't regret that decision after reading the review of the concierge there. I love this resort and would be very happy staying here!! Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Are you pleased with the concierge service at AKL?

Are you saying that there was a suite available after your first night? You probably would have been somewhat further from the lounge than you are now.

Glad to hear you are having a wonderful time.

Look at it this way-if you find Poly isn't up to snuff you can always move somewhere else-BWI concierge, YC Concierge, WL..., etc. if they have room.

I hope you have a great time the rest of your trip.

Has the pool at AKL been crowded?

Hi there... it is so neat to hear from DIS'ers LIVE!

I too am hoping for a 6th floor room this time - I have tried the 5th floor for 10 days - so I would be happy checking out 6.

I bet it's quiet up there.

Tinkfan, my only request is that you please tell "Don," my all-time favorite Disney Cast Member, who just so happens to work the Kilimanjaro Club, that Janet2k from the Dis says, "Hello!" He is the most wonderful man and my entire family (including my parents) adore him.

Oh, I just thought of one other request -- if you eat at Boma's, please have an extra bowl of the tomato soup for me. Talk about yummy... ;)

And one other request -- please take photos of your room and its view. I don't believe I have seen photos yet of a 6th floor room and its view.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation. I'm sure the Poly will be wonderful. I have read many, many nice things about the Poly.

Florida Fam- Yes we could have moved to a 2 bdrm after our first night but since we had just moved from OKW and will be moving to the Poly we decided to stay put. We are very happy with our 6th floor bunk bed room.
The concierge services and staff are wonderful as always. The food offernings are great and everyone is friendly and helpful.

Cassie- As long as you don't mind the limited view the 6th floor is great. My kids can go out to the lounge and bring things back to the room on their own. WE have heard no noise from neighbors or pipes.

Janet- I will tell Don you said hello. We also think he is wonderful. We just had a long conversation with him earlier tonight.
I have taken a few pictures of our view here, but not of the room. The room is the same as the deluxe rooms on the 5th floor.
I don't think we will eat at Boma this trip, but I am currently eating some Chicken Pepper Pot soup from Mara and its wonderful!!

Hi tink - yumm - that soup is so good from Mara.

Have a great time, and if you can take a pic of your room and the savanna view - that would be wonderful.

Tinkfan, thank you for taking those photos. I can't wait to see them. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
