We are here until tomorrow afternoon. First time staying at Kidani, and my husband said it's his new favourite! Loving our view, room location (5th floor near lobby elevator), and the quiet, peacefulness around here. No passes this trip, so just relaxing and enjoying the resort, that's why no trip report. But if you have any questions, I'll try my best!:goodvibes

Glad you are loving Kidani. I also thought it would be great for a non-park trip because it is so relaxing and the savanna view really makes you feel like you are on vacation. Enjoy your last day!

DH and I love Kidani for it's layed back feel. Perfect resort to just relax and enjoy.

I've done a no park Jambo trip with friends. It's a wonderful resort. I'll be there solo for a few days in June, & can't wait!

My only question is how do I convince DH to give Kidani a try? I'm convinced he'd love it, and I always do when I go there, but when he goes, I just can't tear him from his favorite OKW.

So this is what we need to do,,,,no parks just relax at the pool... I promise myself we will do that one of these times.

So, you think that a top floor (or upper floor) is better for a savanna view? I will be there in late July. Have never stayed there and am very excited. Thanks

Hi! Yes I do have questions! We will be in a savanah studio on June 8-16th. We have never stayed DVC before - renting points from a friend. Couple quick questons; 1. Is there room service available? 2. Are there Bell Services - will they bring our bags to the room when we check in? 3. What size is the coffee pot? We would like to bring our own coffee from home (yes I am a coffee snob) and need to know the size and style for the filters. Any other informatino and/or pics or suggestions would be greatly appreciatied. We absolutely love Jambo House and are worried DVC will be dissapointing. How about not having housekeeping every day? Is that a big deal to you? Thanks and glad you are enjoying your vacation!! jane

1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) 10 - 12 cup that takes flat bottom, fluted edge filters.
4) Are you staying Jambo House DVC or Kidani DVC?

Thanks Jean! We are staying Deluxe Studio Savannah View Kidani Village. There will be 4 of us - me, dh, dd17 & ds 19. How did you find the room? The bathroom set up seems a little strange - did that slow you down at all? How about the Housekeeping? We were thinking maybe adding a day of two "a-la-carte" but it seems pretty expensive. How is the pool? Gift shop, etc. Any must sees or do's? Must you walk across the parking lot to get to the pool? that's what it looks like. Thanks again for your answers! Jane

Here is a link to my recent trip report about my solo trip to Kidani. It is kind of long but you can scroll through to see photos of the room and pool area. Your kids are too big for the splash area but I think they will still enjoy the pool. I am a DVC member and am used to not having housekeeping everyday. I actually prefer it to having someone in my room everyday. There is a free laundry so you can pack lightly. My trip was solo so I can't comment on the bathroom convenience.

What Jean said, lol! Last day here, so just now checking my computer, but Jean loves it here and knows all about it too! We really enjoy not having housekeeping every day - I don't worry about leaving stuff everywhere - kind of a neat freak, and DH gets frustrated watching me clean before housekeeping comes in! I used the laundry room once this trip just to freshen up a few items like bathing suits and coverup, even a couple of towels. The bathroom set up is awesome, I love the huge counter and all the storage and the separate water closet. The pool is the best - we've been there every morning by 9 am to enjoy it for a couple of hours - just go out the lobby to the right and follow the sidewalk, pool is right there. Ask for Sunset Savannah in your room request - whoever you rented points from can add that to your reservation as a request - it's the biggest savannah with giraffes and zebras - the other savannah doesn't have them. We are on the 5th floor near the lobby (literally takes 2 minutes to go refill our mugs in the gift shop) - I love being up high because we get to see Wishes and Illuminations from our balcony every night and since we didn't have passes this trip, it was wonderful! Also, since we had a rental car, we just took the Rafiki elevator right down to our car, so close. You will love it here. The Community Hall and library room downstairs are awesome, and there are so many pieces of artwork and little proverbs around the hallways to admire and take pics of, just a very beautiful, peaceful resort. And we really found it quick to get everywhere from here, so it's not as far removed from everything as everyone else seems to think. Having a car without park passes was really nice too, especially to go out for meals. Enjoy yourselves!

The lower floors get you closer to the animals, but really, I don't think there's a bad view in the place - just make sure you request Sunset Savannah if you like giraffes and zebras! The best part about having our 5th floor room on the north side and near the lobby is watching the fireworks from our balcony - don't think you'd see them from the lower levels - but if you have passes, seeing them in person is even better (we didn't so it was nice to see them). I'm watching giraffes pass by the window right now, and I can see them beautifully from inside the room - there are three that live on the Sunset Savannah, and one is a lot larger than the other two, but they tend to stay together. There are six zebra that like to stay together too, and wildebeasts, ankole cattle, roan antelopes, elands, ostriches, and other large birds. So beautiful and entertaining, you will love it here!

Just FYI, OKW is my husband's favourite, but only in a one bedroom or larger - he likes a couch in a studio, and OKW has the two beds. As soon as we checked in our room and sat on our balcony, he looked at me and said 'honestly, this is my new favourite resort, and the extra points are worth it.' Then when we were at the pool lounging and reading, he said it again 'this really is my new favourite'.:goodvibes

My DH was a huge BCV fan (our first DVC) and didn't think he would like any other as much. Then we bought into AKV and stayed there a few times (loved it) but DH still thought BCV was more his 'thing', until we did a split stay...started with a week at AKV then moved to BCV for a week. Yikes! DH looks at me and says "i hate to say it but I wish we were still at AKV".

Honestly we both love Kidani, would stay there always if we could!

We used to always stay at our home resort of Boardwalk but changed dates once and thankfully were "forced" try Kidani and love it.
My question:

Is there a time at night when the animals are brought off the savannah? We requested Sunset Savannah if that makes a difference in scheduling.

The animals are called back into their areas for feeding and checkups in the mornings. They are out all night. Last year around 11:00 PM we were amazed to have about 8 zebras resting and mingling right outside our Sunset Savannah CL studio. All around us there were others on their balconies marveling at the sight! I always wondered what we were missing by going to sleep!;)

My studio was also on Sunset Savanna and I had a giraffe sitting on the ground right below my balcony one night. Another giraffe was standing nearby, as if protecting the resting giraffe. It was too dark to get a photo, darn.

was your studio to the right or left of the lobby. We were left and it seemed the giraffes were always on the side closest to Jambo our entire trip.

When facing the savanna, my room was the first one to the right of the lobby and one floor above the lobby. It was 3001, I think.
