Rats. Once again my dreams of a "Herbie The Love Bug-land" are shattered.
Anyhoo, since we're on the subject, I actually have a little Disney-Beatles connection of my own. My very first trip to Disney World happened in 1989 just a few months after I turned 7 years old. It was an amazing trip (despite my 2nd grade teacher sending along homework for me with my parents - I still remember sitting in our room at the Caribbean Beach Resort doing math problems...) and suffice it to say when we got home, I was a child obsessed! I had some sort of travel magazine that I had taken home with me, and inside was a full-page illustrated map of Walt Disney World, which at the time only consisted of Magic Kingdom, EPCOT Center, MGM Studios, Typhoon Lagoon and the pre-Downtown Disney "Disney Village Marketplace". For some reason, I would sit at the desk in my bedroom and just stare at the Disney World map, while listening to "Penny Lane" over and over again on one of my moms Beatles cassettes. I would sit there for
hours and do this. I truly don't remember why I was so enamored with this simple little map, or why it was specifically "Penny Lane" that I kept listening to, but over and over again I would rewind the tape and listen to that song while just looking at the Disney map. Sure enough, now in 2012 after I just turned 30, every time "Penny Lane" comes on my iPod I
immediately associate it with Walt Disney World. I'm sure that magazine with the map in it is still back at my parents house in a box somewhere. I would love to find it and put the map in a frame or something, just for old times sake.
