"Her Name Was Definitely Mary". Our 1st anniversary trip, May 2011 *NEW 9/6

Great update! I am so happy someone spotted you before you got away for the Dis meet :thumbsup2

Having never done a KP mission, did you ever get strange looks from CMs for not having children with you? I tried to talk my DH into doing one on our last trip, but he felt it would look strange since we didn't have any kids with us.

No strange looks at all! In fact, we have noticed that the KP CMs are often a little... off... can't quite put my finger on it, but there have been a few that just don't seem to interact quite normally with people.
We never felt weird not having kids and doing the missions. In fact, I think I would get seriously annoyed if I had to share with a child! (Another reason why I would not make a good parent :rolleyes1 )

I sometimes get annoyed with having to share with my DH's DD(12), or having to put her needs first, though hopefully I hide it well. She's super nice and everything, I just prefer to think about me first once in a while. :rolleyes1 Hopefully it'll be different once it's MY child.

Disney is all about EVERYONE having fun, and acting like big children. :wizard:

Your CG dinner looks like fun. We skipped CG this trip to try somewhere new, and I am not happy about that!

Thank you so much for the sweet compliments on meeting me!! :goodvibes I am sooo glad that I caught you before you bolted! ;) I was close to leaving myself, only because I didn't see anyone I recognized. I saw 2 of the other DISers meeting up at first, but I didn't recognize them, so was not too crazy about approaching them. Boy was I relieved when I saw you and Ben and recognized you both. I think my biggest fear about the meet was that I wouldn't recognize anybody, even though I had seen pics of people on their PTRs! So glad we got to meet.

I didn't really notice the heat while we were talking either. I finally realized how hot it was after we walked away, but for a different reason than you--I was thirsty. So naturally I had to stop and have a drink on my way out of the park! :thumbsup2 I guess the sunblock I applied that morning was still working, because I didn't get as much sun as you did!

It's not like 12 is an easy age!
I am sure you won't have a problem sharing with your child! Me, on the other hand- not cut out for sharing!

I was just kinda looking around all dazed and stressed out-like. There was no chance I was going to recognize anyone; I was too worked up. So when you saw me it helped a LOT!
I forgot to put on sunblock after getting ready to go back out for the second part of the day. Shame on me!

Great to see some Typhoon Lagoon photos! Haven't been there in over 10 years at this point and don't know if I'll ever go back honestly. I'm not really big on water parks.

Hmm...sound's like your Bus Driver was having a really bad day!

Water parks are something I have to really be in the mood for. I don't love walking around in a bathing suit all day, for starters! But Typhoon Lagoon is such a pretty place!

Love this report!! We did KP in Oct but it was SOOOO hot we quit. Can you do it at night? Thinking about doing it when it's darker, and a bit cooler.;) Also, waiting patiently to see those OKW pics!! popcorn:: We'll be there in 20 days!!!

I'm following along and slowly catching up! I just had to comment because I had read your TR before going on our own May trip, and when we got to our room, I knew to check the iron to make sure it wouldn't drip on anything (it was empty, but still - good lookin' out).

I'm in the middle of your 2nd day, and love your choice of words 'angry hungry.' We had the same experience trying to travel from DHS to DTD to eat at Wolfgang Puck Express. It involved a boat and a bus, plus a trek through the Swan where we admired the Dolphin from afar (or were we in the Dolphin admiring the Swan?) I couldn't help but chuckle when I saw the picture of WPE as your final destination...why is it so difficult to get to that place? And why is my mouth watering for their pizza right now?

Looking forward to reading more about your travels!

Thank you!
I'm not sure how late the KP missions are offered... I agree; night time would be a lot cooler!

OKW is coming, I promise!

Thanks for reading! I am glad you learned something useful from my last TR (even if the iron proved to be empty)!

Haha, WPE is hard to get to... and since we're always so hungry when heading there, it makes it that much worse!

Hey, hello! Hi! Remember me? I didn't write the next update when I meant to, then I was too busy... But here I am again!

And I learned something last week: writing trip reports is a useful skill. I had to write the minutes for a meeting I attended the day after I got back from this trip- in May. I didn't write those minutes until a few days ago. But with my notes, I had no problem thinking back to the meeting and wrote the minutes with no problem. Also, this shows you that I procrastinate with everything, not just TR writing.

So.... let's get this update going...

Day 8:

Oh no! This is the last full day of the trip. That makes me sad… especially when I think about how far away our next WDW trip is! But enough of the pity party, I’ve been slacking on posting and I’m sure any of you out there still interested in this report would like me to hurry up and finish already!

We were so tired when we got in the night before that we didn’t pack like we had planned. So that meant we had to wake up pretty early and get packing so we could send our bags on to Old Key West. I had planned on doing this early enough for us to get to a park for opening. But when it was 9 and we still working on sorting out our stuff, I knew that wasn’t going to happen.

Once the bags were all set, Ben headed down to check out. Going over our room charges made me want to cry; we spent so much on food and alcohol! I mean, we enjoyed every bit of it and made no attempt to cut costs so I shouldn’t have been surprised, but jeesh! It was hard to take. By the time we were done going over the charges, we just had to wait a few moments for bell services to turn up for the bags. I took a few sad pictures:

IMG_5826.jpg

Then we had to say good bye to Kidani. We stopped at the desk on the way out to ask about room charges for the day since we had checked out of one room and weren’t checking in to our next room till a bit later. The CM told us we wouldn’t have a problem and the credit card was still on file…
So with that (ahem… wrong…) information, we headed out to the bus stop to go to DHS. It was about 10 am at this point, so plenty of time left in the day!
Apparently, Ben and I had a camera off:

IMG_5509.jpg

IMG_5828.jpg

And admired our Crocs:

IMG_5511.jpg

A bus came along before too long, and we were at the park pretty quickly.

We headed right over to get FP for RnRCoaster and to ride ToT, stopping first to a few PP pics in this part of the park.

IMG_5833.jpg

When we got in line for ToT, I had to take a picture… we’ve never waited at all for this and I wanted to document the fact that we were behind all of these people:

IMG_5836.jpg

The wait was honestly not very long, and we were soon back from whatever dimension we got zapped to. And we were HUNGRY. Really hungry. It was not quite 11, so CS places weren’t quite open yet. We walked and walked and ended up on the New York street just too hungry to think. The park was deserted over here

IMG_5843.jpg

I have this picture, too:

IMG_5841.jpg

And NO clue where I took it. It had to be in that general area, but I don’t remember… I was in a hunger induced trance by this point. Just in the nick of time, we wandered up to Pizza Planet as they were unlocking the door.
We each ordered a pepperoni pizza, which comes with a ceaser salad. When we handed over our KTTW card, it didn’t work. Surprise! You can’t charge to a room if you are not at that moment checked in to a room. This makes perfect sense, which is why we asked before we left the hotel. Somehow, the cashier managed to ring the food through and we got to eat…

IMG_5845.jpg

IMG_5847.jpg

This was our first time there and we both enjoyed it. I have heard terrible things about the pizza, but I thought it was really good. Keep in mind that I was thisclose to dying from hunger, though… maybe it wouldn’t have tasted as good if I had only been normally hungry.
I felt so much better after eating, and enjoyed our view before heading out.

IMG_5850.jpg

This was the inspiration for our next destination: Muppets!
IMG_5851.jpg

We love this show, always have and always will. Food, muppets, sitting, air conditioning… we were now feeling pretty good! So we headed to another of our favorite places in DHS:

IMG_5853.jpg

We got a couple iced cappuccinos and just as Ben was about to pay, I piped up and ordered a little piece of deliciousness:

IMG_5854.jpg

Those carrot cake cookies are friggin good! We ate our snack in our usual corner, then headed out to make another stop at Tot and RNRCoaster.

IMG_5857.jpg

IMG_5862.jpg

By this time we had done everything we wanted to and we were both anxious to see our new home (well, it would be home for the night, anyway). We headed out of the park, stopping in Sid Cahuenga’s first. This store is fun to poke around in; there’s lots of weird memorabilia and movie props for sale. And lots of it is CRAZY expensive.

IMG_5863.jpg

We were pretty excited to be heading to a new resort and found our way to our new bus stop:

IMG_5865.jpg

yay, an update! Sometimes I think it would be awesome to not really to stick to a budget for food/drinks and just charge it all to the KTTW card...but then I remember that I don't want to have a heart attack. It would be fun though!!!

Nice cliffhanger...so excited to see OKW! :yay:

Ugh the last full day of a trip is always so bittersweet, isn't it? That's when I start trying to cram in as much Disney magic as possible. :rotfl:

Ahh the Muppets, my absolute favorite! :thumbsup2

The end of a trip is always so sad (when you're on it and when you're reading about it), but I'm glad that you at least had a whole new resort to look forward to! I can't wait to see some pictures of OKW - I know nothing about it!

I must say, I do not like carrot cake what so ever, but every time I see a picture of that cookie here I alway stop to say "what is that? I've got to try that" and then I remember that it's carrot cake. Oh well, maybe I should just try it anyway! :confused3

Great DHS day, loving all the piccies :)

I quite liked Pizza Planet, it was good for a quick snack break in between wandering around and filled a hole. If we do go back we want to try the arcade as it looked pretty cool.

That carrot cookie looks delish :)

I heard the same thing about Pizza Planet, but we also loved it! I eat good pizza all the time and didn't think it was horrible.
Writer's Stop is one of my favorite places in all of WDW! It's so cozy! I'm definitely going to try that carrot cake cookie this trip!
The last full day of a trip is the WORST :sad1:

Yay, on the update! Phewy on the misinformation regarding your KTTWC and charging to your room.

Cant wait to read all about OKW!

Ben liked just carrying around the one card- we both love traveling light around the parks! But it was tough to see all those costs at once at the end.

The last day is tough, but checking into a new resort is a good way to trick yourself into thinking the trip isn't almost over

I can't wait to share our OKW experience... now I just gotta get that update written.

Too bad you don't like carrot cake- the cookie does taste like carrot cake, can't lie about that. But it's good!!

Pizza Planet was exactly what we needed. The arcade does look really neat, would be fun to play around!

I looooove pizza, and I thought this was good! I don't know what kind of pizza folks are eating that makes Pizza Planet gross, but it must be amazing :rotfl:

Disney did manage to track down our card and charge us for that lunch, even though we technically didn't have charging privileges. They are good at getting their money! :lmao:

Please excuse this interruption in the trip report... we finally have finalized the plans for our fall vacation, and I am so excited, I just had to share!

We're leaving early on September 23 (Ben's birthday!) and flying from Providence to Orlando. We'll pick up a rental car at the airport and drive to

disney.jpg

This will be our first time staying at a DVC resort outside of WDW, and I am excited. I really don't know what to expect, but am mostly looking forward to relaxing.

Sitting by this pool shouldn't be to terrible:

swimming_pool.jpg

I've never been to the beach in Florida, so that will be a new experience, too.

vero_tn_500.jpg

After 4 nights there, we will get in the car and take a road trip! Yup, we're driving 6 hours to Hilton Head, South Carolina. And we'll check in to another Disney resort...

2170374162679943.jpg

This should be another relaxing, easy going stay. There'll be another pool to check out:

Hilton_head_big_dipper_pool2.JPG

And a beach house (with another pool)

beach_house_pool_holland.jpg

We'll be in Hilton Head for 3 nights, and after we're nice and rested, we will head to Savannah, GA! This is a city I have wanted to visit for a very long time!

We're staying at the Inn at Ellis Square, a decision based on very little information. We found a location we liked and went for a price that wasn't insane. It is so weird to plan a vacation that isn't Disney... I like knowing everything about the resorts I have to pick from...

dbimage.asp

In Savannah, we will definitely do a haunted pub crawl (ghost stories and drinking? sign me up!) and we'll eat a LOT of food.

We are staying 3 nights, then it's road trip time again! Cause we are driving 6 hours again to go back to Orlando to fly home. It sounds crazy, but after pricing the options the one way car rental was just way too expensive to justify flying out of a different airport. It's ok, I'm sure Ben and I will be able to entertain ourselves on the drive.

So, even though it's not a WDW trip, there's plenty of Disney in there. While I won't be doing a TR for this one, I'm sure it will get some attention when I start my next PTR for our October 2012 trip.

Anyone have any Vero Beach/Hilton Head/Savannah tips????

Wow, that is a long ToT line! That's how I remember it from my last family trip, before fast passes existed!

I think Pizza Planet looks so cute! I really want to eat there someday! :thumbsup2

I love the Muppets! I love Bean Bunny, he's my favorite! :lovestruc

Your fall trip looks to be a good one. No TR? :sad2: Oh well.. you can share on your PTR for the next WDW trip....
