"Her Name Was Definitely Mary". Our 1st anniversary trip, May 2011 *NEW 9/6

I've never been to either of the waterparks, but they do look like fun! That's funny you did basically the same order at both.

Ugh, sorry to hear about your gross lunch. It stinks to have to stick to the basics while at Disney, but I guess that is better than a gag-worthy lunch!

The water parks are very fun, but for us only a couple hours worth of stuff to do. We only need to visit them every few trips. And we'll never eat there again!

Omg! Your bus driver story had me :rotfl: and I think based on your reviews... I probably won't be eating at the watermark...even if I did go to one

Whatever you do: don't eat at a water park!

I am refusing to eat at a waterpark if we go to one this trip, nothing about a soggy wrap sounds appealing :rotfl:

It was so gross. Funny... BB had bread too dry and TL had bread too wet :rotfl:

Looks like a fun day at Typhoon Lagoon! I like TL much better than BB! The storm slides were my favorite too, we went on those so many times when we were there! If I ever do a water park again, it will be TL, I won't bother with BB anymore!

Your bus driver sounds a little insane...

Me too! TL is way better than BB!

Great updates, your Epcot day looked great. How was the passionfruit margarita, have got my eye on that one this year :teeth:

Love the telescope shot fo Miss Tilly's boat v cool :thumbsup2

What a weird driver, do you think he puts on a voice for other accents

The passion fruit margarita was delicious! Highly recommend.

Hmmm, maybe the bus driver was using his normal voice at the end, and had been faking a different accent for Ben and I... :rolleyes1

I'm all caught up with your great updates, Joyce! Your AK tour sounds really neat. Was it one that any one could go on (meaning, not just people staying at AKL)? If so I might need to look into that. :thumbsup2

Ugh - your meal at TL sounds so disgusting. I don't think there is anything worse than soggy food. I remembered your BB dining review while we were at the water parks and we waited until we were back to the Poly to eat lunch both days. I'm so glad we did!

Welcome back, Courtney!
The AK tour is open to anyone. It wasn't too expensive, if I remember correctly.

Glad I could help save you from nasty water park food!!

Yuck! I'm sorry the food at TL was so gross-- at least you know to avoid eating there in the future!!
Uhh, that bus driver sounds crazy! I'm pretty sure Disney would NOT be happy if they knew he shut off the spiel AND changed his speech patterns for families of different backgrounds. What a terrible way to represent yourself and your company!

He was obnoxious and un-Disney. I did not like him. Nope.

I cannot believe that you are already at the DIS meet in your TR and I'm not yet! I need to get a move on. By the way...I'm wondering if anyone from our DISmeet remembered to take any pics?? I was POed at myself afterwards for forgetting! Guess I'll see if you did in your next update! :goodvibes

Haha, well I have slowed down significantly. I worked all of the holiday weekend and I am too exhausted when I get home to write an update. So maybe you'll catch up!

Sad to say, I took no pictures. I was crazy nervous and socially awkward and thisclose to running away before you spotted me.

I'm all caught up! Yay! I want to do that animal kingdom tor one day! I have to wait Til my daughter is older tho.
I'm glad you like SAI. I've been there a couPle of times and loved it. And it seems to get not so great reviews.
That bus driver sounds lame...

What a crazy bus driver! It's always so crazy when you encounter a CM like that in Disney...it's just the total of opposite of what you'd expect!

I'm pretty sure I never want to eat at a water park after reading your TR. Thanks for the warning!! I think I probably would have puked if I bit into a soggy sandwich..yuck!!!

I'm TERRIFIED of heights!:scared1: For real, I won't climb a ladder more than the first 2 rungs. However, my entire family wanted to do Soarin' and I thought, how bad can it be?:rolleyes1 I will be honest here, it was AMAZING! I'm SO glad I did it. Yes, it was scary a few times and I closed my eyes but I think it actually helped me of my fear of heights.:thumbsup2 I plan to ride it again this coming trip!:yay:

I will be brave one day and ride it. Maybe I will have a couple of drinks around the world first. :lmao:

Hi! Just dropping in to say that it sounds like you guys had a good day at Typhoon Lagoon... aside from the gross food :sad2: (kudos to your DH for having such a tough/stubborn stomach). And what a weird bus driver!

Looking forward to the next installment :)

SAI was great! I love the atmosphere and the food was delicious. Yum!

I just hope I can spare others from the grossness of WP food.

p.s. I Just read your June 2010 TR, it was great! How did a Boardwalk 1 bedroom work for you with 2 couples; was it enough room? Did you trade off sleeping on the pullout? We're hoping to go in 2012 with friends and would like to stay at BWV, but definitely can't do more than a 1 bedroom with our points.

I will be brave one day and ride it. Maybe I will have a couple of drinks around the world first. :lmao:

Now there's a good plan!

Thanks! It was a good day! And I promise to finish writing about it very soon (finally have some time off work!)

I never meant to wait so long between updates! Work is crazy, and when I get home and don't have to go right out somewhere, I either go to bed, or sit down and just stare at a wall. Forgive me for my slowness, but here is another update:

Once back at the room, we wasted no time getting cleaned up and ready to head back out again. I had made plans to meet up with some fellow DISers in France, and it was getting late! So we headed out to the bus stop and hoped we would have some good transportation luck.

Before too long, an Epcot bus rolled up

IMG_5771.jpg

We were walking into Epcot at 2:45, and the meet was scheduled for 3. So we didn’t have much time to rush over to the back of the park. We hustled, but I did take some pictures on the way.

Once we were in France, I suddenly remembered something: I am incredibly shy. Why on Earth did I think I was going to be ok meeting a bunch of strangers? I am socially awkward and terrible at small talk. Standing around trying to find a group of people who might be the DISers I was looking for, I began to whine a bit and finally just told Ben we needed to get the heck out of there. I apologized profusely for making us rush all the way to Epcot for no reason. I really felt bad. Not just for dragging him over there for no reason, but also because I did want to be part of the meet. I get so upset when I let my shyness ruin stuff I want to do…

Just when we were about to head out, someone called over and asked if I was Joyce. Decision made for me, I felt 100% better as I smiled and greeted Melissa (AKL Lover). She’s just too nice to be nervous around, and we were quickly chatting away about our trips. A few other DISers showed up then, but they were folks I didn’t really know from the boards, and I am sorry to say I don’t remember most the screen names… CheshireFigment was there, and Jvermillion and her husband (I don’t know their real names!)

Jvermillion was kind enough to treat us to a couple of adult slushies (yummy!) and we drank and talked for a good hour. In the sun. I didn’t really notice how hot it was at the time, but this would end up being the one and only time I got burned during our whole trip.
I am so glad that I stayed (and never would have if Melissa hadn’t spotted me!) and really enjoyed the meet. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to take pictures, which is annoying.

Once we said our good byes, Ben and I wandered off to find a way to cool down. We were also pretty hungry, but didn’t want to spoil our appetites for our anniversary dinner at California Grill in a few hours. We ended up sharing an order of sushi in Japan, which worked out pretty well.
After, we just spent a bit of time in World Showcase. Here’s a glimpse of what we did:

IMG_5776.jpg

Of course, we had to do a Kim Possible mission or two.

IMG_5777.jpg

Along the way, I snapped this picture of the line of folks waiting to see Davy Jones (who was performing again this day). I was glad he had such a crowd!

IMG_5779.jpg

I love the Mariachi band in Mexico!
IMG_5781.jpg

During our KP mission in Mexico, I saw the coolest bachelorette party ever; they had pink wigs and were doing a mission! I was soooo jealous

IMG_5785.jpg

This is something you’ll see a lot in our reports: Ben with a drink and a Kimunnicator.
IMG_5791.jpg

By now, it was time to bead over to the Contemporary, so we headed up to catch a monorail

IMG_5799.jpg

We checked in for our reservation, and were seated pretty much right away. The sun was setting, and the view was so pretty! I took a bunch of pictures, but narrowed down to just a couple to share:

This was the only ADR that I had noted our anniversary, and I was so excited about the confetti decorating our table.

IMG_5808.jpg

IMG_5806.jpg

See? That is excitement!

I love the food here, and looking forward to sharing it with Ben. It’s not a cheap meal, but great for a special occasion. We got the rotisserie chicken flatbread to start and it was delicious! For an entrée I had artichoke and cheese ravioli that was also very tasty. Ben ordered halibut, which I am not finding on the Allears menu, so it may have been a special. I do know that he really like it!
During the course of the meal, we entertained ourselves with the Mickey head confetti:

IMG_5813.jpg

We are a real class act, people!

Of course we needed dessert, so I got chocolate crème brulee (amazing!) and Ben ordered a butterscotch bread pudding which was delicious. The desserts came out with a nice touch:

IMG_5817.jpg

I am happy to say that Cali Grill did not disappoint and Ben is now as much of a fan as I already was. I think we’ll certainly be back here at some point.

Dinner was done around 9:30, and we decided to head to Downtown Disney so we could transfer busses and get a little shopping in on the way. While waiting for the bus, Ben began talking to another couple. The gentleman was trying to get to ESPN club to see a fight (boxing, maybe?) so we tried to help them with getting there. At one point the guy gave Ben his business card. If we are ever looking to have kitchen renovation work done in Southern California, we will absolutely give this guy a call.

I was really tired, but we had to get a few things for our niece and nephew, so shop we must!
IMG_5824.jpg

We ended up finding a pretty Tinkerbell necklace for our niece and a pirate play set for our nephew. We also got a few things for some friends of ours. Once that task was finished, we headed back to Kidani. But before we could go back to our room, we stopped at bell services to find out about transferring our bags the next day. The trip is almost over, but we still have a new resort to look forward to!

Joyce-I AM SO SHY, too! Gosh, I feel so awkward in social situations with new people. If I were to ever schedule a DIS meet it has to be with someone who can talk about their life to any stranger or after I've had a few drinks. :lmao: I'm one of those people that thinks about how stupid everything sounded after coming out of my mouth hours after the conversation is over! Anyway...

I can't wait to do some KP Missions! What country has been your favorite so far?

On our last trip, there was this couple that DH and I named "Dolly Parton and Elvis". Seriously I thought they were going to MNSSHP but they actually were just lost and looking how to get somewhere (I'm guessing to a dinner res.) but they weren't being vocal about it so I just decided not to help that time. It was awkward...

You are RED in your pics at Cali Grill. Were you hurting the next day?

I am so glad to see that your decision was made for you and you got to meet some other DISers!! :goodvibes I am not shy at all, but I know it is intimidating meeting someone new in person, much different than talking online!!

We went back and forth on booking Cali Grill for our upcoming trip and we decided against it, kind of regretting that now of course :headache: looks like you two had a great meal!!

I'm very shy too, and terrible at small talk. I can talk okay, but as long as someone else asks me questions.

Doing Kim Possible missions with a drink in hand is one of the things I'm really looking forward to on my next trip. :)

Aww I'm glad you ended up going to the Dis meet!! How fun it must have been to get to talk to people and not just type .

CG looks great, I'm very excited for the ADR I am planning to make there! I especially like your Mickey glitter antics!

Of course you guys did more KP missions! Joyce, you are SO funny and charismatic in your posts, I can't imagine you being shy IRL! I'm glad you stayed and enjoyed the Dis Meet!

Your Dismeet sounds like fun, I'm glad it went so well! :goodvibes I'm incredibly shy too, and socially awkward and horrible at small talk...I'd love to meet some Dis'ers sometime, but I'd definitely need to have a few drinks first! :rotfl:

I love the KP missions, they look like so much fun! I'm definitely trying one this year! :thumbsup2

I completely understand your anxiety over the DIS meet. I am really shy, too! I am so glad that you ended up staying, though, because it sounds like you had a blast! :thumbsup2

I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed California Grill! I'm trying it for the first time in November. Can't wait!!

Thanks for reading my June TR :) The 1BR villa worked great for us. We didn't trade on and off for the bedroom, I claimed it and since my sister and her boyfriend were just happy to be there, they didn't mind at all. They also said that the pullout sleeper was really comfortable, no hard bar on their backs or anything. The 1BRs are so spacious, so as long as you're comfortable with the couple, you'll be fine. I HIGHLY recommend a Boardwalk view...it was the highlight of the room!

Sounds like you had a really fun Dismeet, bet you are glad you stuck with. I'm with you on the shyness, it takes me a while to come out of my shell, thank god for DF and his very outgoing personality :)

Glad you guys loved CG, such an awesome restaurant :)

It's so easy to sit at home and think I'll be ok meeting new people, but when the time comes- I freak!

Our favorite mission was in China, but it had changed a bit because they were doing construction on a store. I also really like Mexico- it has awesome effects and it's indoors (A/C!)

Yup, that burn hurt. I was so mad at myself for being careful all week, then being dumb that one time.

I am so glad to see that your decision was made for you and you got to meet some other DISers!! :goodvibes I am not shy at all, but I know it is intimidating meeting someone new in person, much different than talking online!!

It seems like a lot of people don't get that excited about Cali Grill, but I still love it! It was the first 'fancy' place I ever went to years ago, and it is special to me.

I'm very shy too, and terrible at small talk. I can talk okay, but as long as someone else asks me questions.

Doing Kim Possible missions with a drink in hand is one of the things I'm really looking forward to on my next trip. :)

I'm sad that we've now done all the missions (twice... :rolleyes1 ) we'll have to find something else to do in Epcot!

I'm really enjoying reading your TR! :-)

Thank you very much! Glad you're reading!

Fantastic TR! I am really enjoying reading it popcorn::

Aww, that is so sweet!

Aww I'm glad you ended up going to the Dis meet!! How fun it must have been to get to talk to people and not just type .

It was a great meal! And if they're gonna put Mickey heads all over our table, we sure as heck are gonna play with them!

Of course you guys did more KP missions! Joyce, you are SO funny and charismatic in your posts, I can't imagine you being shy IRL! I'm glad you stayed and enjoyed the Dis Meet!

Thanks, Kylie! It takes me a while to be comfortable with people, and I usually make jokes that are either super weird or just plain put my foot in my mouth.

Your Dismeet sounds like fun, I'm glad it went so well! :goodvibes I'm incredibly shy too, and socially awkward and horrible at small talk...I'd love to meet some Dis'ers sometime, but I'd definitely need to have a few drinks first! :rotfl:

Haha, if some of us all got together for a Dismeet, it sounds like it would be a very quite affair. :rotfl:

I completely understand your anxiety over the DIS meet. I am really shy, too! I am so glad that you ended up staying, though, because it sounds like you had a blast! :thumbsup2

It was fun. And I am so glad I got to meet Melissa!

Thanks for the info! We are SOOOO excited about the possible trip (even though it is so far away). If the pull out is comfy, I'm sure it will be easier for us to keep sleeping arrangements the same all week.

Haha, you are so right about having an outgoing partner. Ben makes friends everywhere, and helps me see how silly I am being sometimes with the shyness.

Great update! I am so happy someone spotted you before you got away for the Dis meet :thumbsup2

Having never done a KP mission, did you ever get strange looks from CMs for not having children with you? I tried to talk my DH into doing one on our last trip, but he felt it would look strange since we didn't have any kids with us.
