There was a thread about this a long time ago and I can't find it using the search. Does anyone know if they still do the henna tatoos in Moracco? I was wondering the range in prices and how long they take. I was thinking about one on my ankle since I wash my hands so often. I assume they have lots of styles to choose from. Any/all info would be appreciated since I've never had one before but always wanted one!!

We were there 2/17 - 2/26 and they were still doing it. Sorry, I don't know any details such as price or styles offered.

I'm just back from Regal Palms last week and we visited Universal Studios. There were a few Tatoo stalls on the Universal Boardwalk before entering the park.

The kids got henna tatoos done (teens), a small rose on the upper arm was $15 and a dragon type creature was $21, it depends on size. I'd say that similar prices would be the trend at disney.

By the way, I wasn't impressed with the tatoo when the wax initially pealed off, it was a very pale orange, however, it did darken over the next day.

Good Luck.

Thank you both. It gives me some idea.

Anyone else know how long to allow for them to do it. I know there were several DISers that had it done. :)

I've had the henna tattoos done 2 different times at Morocco. They have several to choose from and if I remember right, they ranged in $$ from 15 - around 35-40. Applying them doesn't take too long, but you have to wait around (or go do something) for about 20-30 minutes and then go back and... one time they applied something too it to help darken and last longer and one time they applied tape around it. I guess it depends on who's doing the tattoo. I'm too big of a chicken to get a "real" tattoo, so I will be getting another one on our next trip to get my tattoo fix. :teeth:

My girls (13 & 15) have had them done several times. The price range that Maude mentioned is right on - it all depends on the size and detail. The first time the girls had it done, the "artist" told them to dab vaseline or veg. oil on the tattoo to help it last longer and to darken it up. So the next time we made sure that we had some vaseline on hand so we didn't have to make a trip to Walgreen's.

Maude is also right in saying that you'll have to go back and have something else done (they can't remember exactly) and eventually, the Henna peels off and leaves the design on your skin.

Each time it was at the end of our vacation time (no swimming!). DD15 had her's applied on the back of her hand and it lasted just as long as her sister's arm tattoo. They were told that the tattoo would last 2-6 weeks and while that also varied, the average was about 5 weeks. It's on their 'to do' list for December.

I didn't get a henna tattoo, but I did get one of the temp tatoos in MGM (I've always watned a Tink tattoo).. man that thing lasted forever!!! Almost two weeks, if I am not mistaken, which is a long time for a temporary tattoo!!

Kath is right about no swimming. The first time DD had it done was at the beginning of a trip and by the end of the trip it was almost gone because of all the swimming. The next time we did it at the end of the trip (and borrowed olive oil from Spoodles!). It lasted several weeks.

My DD got the kind which goes across the lower back and shows just above the hip hugger jeans. Thank God they're only temporary! :sad2:

These definetly last a lot less time then they tell you, beware! Also if you are going to go swimming (they will come right off) they say to put vaseline on top of it to repel the water. I'm not sure how well this works though.

Where did you get it in MGM? My DS16 wants one this trip. We're also going on the 4 day cruise, wanted to know if they do it in Nassau and Castaway Cay. But I had no idea they do them in the parks. He is a track runner, any idea if they had the "running shoe" tatoo? I know, a long shot. Just wondering.

Last year my boys got tattoos in MGM right in the courtyard by Muppets 3D and Pizza Planet. :)

I would think you can but these tatoos at any store at the mall. I know I have seen them at Spencers and Hot Topix. I think they are between 3-5$. Just a litttle budget idea. You just have to wipe the skin with alcohol before putting it on and dust it with powder when you are done. It is soooo easy and usually lasts 3-7 days with normal living (showers, swimming etc...)

I got the top of my hand done in 2001. It was soooo cool! It lasted for over a week and would've lasted longer, but I was back in the "real" world and got some weird comments. Yes, you do have to keep it out of water. I didn't know about the vasaline thing or I think it would've helped. I recommend it! It was fun and relaxing!

Thanks for the replies! I'm hoping that the artist in Moracco actually paints it on like a real henna tatoo is supposed to. I really like the exotic designs and learning what they represent.
I guess I will wait until the end of the vacation because I do plan to do a lot of swimming. Thanks for the suggestions!! :)

Luckymommyx2 - they do paint the henna on. It is not a "rub" on like other temporary tattoos.
