Can anyone buy meal vouchers for disneyWorld? We are going in March 2006 for 10 days and I would like to get some vouchers or meal plan or something so eating doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. Were Canadians and we are staying at BWV and we aren't going on any plan or anything but I would like to save some money on meals if I could. There is 2 adults and one 14 year old girl on this trip. Any suggestions on how to save a bit of coin on food while we are there would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! Fellow Canadian here, now living in TX :)

I don't know anything about vouchers recently, but I had looked into them a few years ago, and they didn't seem any cheaper than paying oop. Have you been to www.allearsnet.com yet? They have all of the menus and prices of every eating establishment in WDW. You can see what is the better deal, and where would be best to eat.

The buffets are awsome, and are all you care to eat...they may seem pricey, but we find we don't need 3 meals a day after one of those.

You should have a refrigerator in the room, so get milk frrom your store at your resort, and do breakfast in the room. Bring cereal, poptarts, cereal bars, etc.. We are not big breakfast eaters anyway, esp. when we get up early and get to the parks! Oh, but don't forget some disposable bowls and spoons :)

Share meals. You can't do this at buffets, but you can do it anywhere else. Most of the portions at WDW are big enough to split. If you split CS meals, you can eat several small meals a day. The three of you could easily get away with spliting 2 meals.

Save your big TS meals for lunch, at like 1-ish. They will keep you full for most of the day, and when you get hungry again, stop at a CS for dinner. The lunch menus are often a little less expensive, especially at the buffets, and are less busy, and the stop mid-day is a welcome rest for your feet and a great time to plan the rest of your day. You are less rushed at lunch too, as they are not trying to get you out to meet the next guests reservations.

Bring snacks and water. Bring a suitcase down just with bottled water, gatorade or koolaid or some powder drink flavoring, breakfast and snacks. You can bring snacks and drinks into the park with you. The water didn't taste funky to me, but some people don't like it, so you bring some gatorade powder with you to add to the water when you refill your water bottles at the fountains. It's good to have those electrolytes with all of the excersize you are going to get anyways :) You really don't even have to bring water bottles if you don't want to lug them around. Every restaurant at WDW will give you a cup of ice free of charge if you ask them. By the way, the gatorade thing works great for restaurants if you order water instead of a soda, too, and will save you money.

Make sure you budget for a locker each day. It's $5, but it's transferable, so you can get a locker at each of the parks you visit that same day for the $5, if you keep your reciept. Then you don't have to carry your drinks or snacks around with you all day. We like to bring Twizzlers or Skittles, something sweet while we wait for the parades/shows at night, when they are walking by with carts of munchies. We also keep an extra shirt for each person in the locker for when the "daily rinse" hits and you get soaked. If you can get a dry shirt on, the rest is tolerable :) We also kept our video camera and tripod in the lockers so we could tape the parades/fireworks shows at night without having to lug that stuff around.

Anyway, I hope that gives you some ideas! :goodvibes

Disney is not doing vouchers anymore. There are still some on eBay (or were recently), but they are usually very overpriced and not saving you any money.
