So, I have the bug. I have been suffering with the biggest case of holiday blues since we got back on the 25th August, and finally, it is looking like we are going next August (sometimes I do love my hubby!)

However, I want to do a bit of shopping around, making sure I am getting the best price.

Ideally we want to stay in I Drive and have a car; we like to go to the malls and travel around for dinners and that. I would like 14 day Disney Tickets that have all six parks and the hopper option, and Universal 3 park ticket (14 day unlimited).

Does anyone know of any travel agents bar Thomson (coming in at around £6000) and Virgin (coming in at £7400). Part of me is tempted to do it myself, i.e book tickets from Attraction Tickets, book hotel direct, but I will be completely honest, it scares the life out of me.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks for your help/assistance

xx

You will get much better options if you do it yourself. We stayed in a Hawthorn Suites just off I Drive last year, booked flights with about three weeks to go, did tickets by ourselves and it all worked out really well.

Hotel was through Expedia. I've got car hire this year care of alamo brits. Flights last year via Delta - stoppers but that just adds to the fun.

Honestly, it feels very scary to book it all yourself, but in my experience, it's not as bad as you think and it saves you a lot of money.

You could try Travel City Direct (which are part of the Virgin group but usually come up a bit cheaper) or try BA holidays too.

Have you looked at getting a one ticket these are cheaper than getting separate tickets for the parks and cover everything for 14 days. We had them for our trip in July and although didn't use everything covered (totally impossible) we did use a lot. Just a suggestion x

DIY is honestly not as scary as it sounds. Just make sure you have travel insurance if you book through a small company which might go belly up ;)

Seriously though - how many people are you planning the trip for? Have you considered a villa if you're driving?

How many of you are going? We are booking for 2 adults and 2 children (4 and 2) for end Jul/beg Aug next year. It's coming in at just under £7,500 for economy flights with BA (it'd be even more with Virgin), 4 nights at CSR, 15 nights in a villa, car hire, travel insurance, 21 day Disney passes, 14 day Universal passes and ESTA visas.

So depending on what your Thomson and Virgin holidays include, the price you quoted doesn't sound too bad compared to what I've added ours up to be.

But shop around anyway, just in case. Add it all up and see which works out better for you.

It's not that scary if you break it down and take it a piece at a time to book DIY.

Start by booking your flights as these are the most difficult to sorce in school holidays.

Then fit everything else in after: hotels and cars will not get fully booked so you can look for a good deal.

Plenty of people on here book DiY (us included) and will give you a helping hand :goodvibes

I couldn't do it :(

I booked through Thomson again - staying at Rosen Inn @ pointe Orlando, 14 day Disney, 14 day Universal, car hire (gold insurance) and flights was £5.3k for 3. I reckon if I had shopped around I could have done it for 4k but the flights were so expensive and indirect flights scare me.

Thank you everyone tho

Next time for DIY then:)

If you are happy with the price that's all that matters. :goodvibes

How many of you is that for? You wanting to go in August again? We used Ocean Florida this time and flying british airways they seemed to be the best deal at the time
