WE have stayed at Santa Fe twice and really liked it - it is the cheapest on site hotel and as we were only intending to use it for sleeping we ddint see the point of spending more on a more expensive hotel.

We ahve since stayed at Holiday Inn and Explorers (off site but very close by) which we also liked. These had the advantage of having a pool and as we were there for longer we had decided to take it easier so knew we would spend more time at the hotel.

We have also stayed at DCR which again we liked and has a brill pool but you need a car to get to the parks.

We are going again later this month and staying at Cheyenne - no pool but bunk beds which we needed as DS(21) coming with us as well as DD. It was no point going to DCR as we needed to be onsite incase DS wants to join us later rather than being with us all the time.

Then in summer we are going to S Lodge- again chosen as we intend to have a relaxing time there and wanted somewhere within walking distance of the park but also with a pool

So as you can see each time we have booked the hotel based on what we think our needs will be as well as well as our budget. This may not be much help but thought it may give you a few things to think about when choosing the hotel

Have a look at the Hotel faq which will give you an indication of the differences in the hotels:)
Obviously depending when you are going will make a difference :thumbsup2

As for accomadation I have only been to Santa Fe and we love it, of course there is alot better but for us its fine, basic but clean.

have a great time!:thumbsup2

We have stayed at all Disney Hotels and I can recommend them all. If money is not the question then I would stay at the Disneyland Hotel. That feels like sleeping in the park.

We have also stayed at the 4 Non-Disney Hotels (Holiday Inn, Explorers, Kyriad and Dream Castle) And these 4 are also very good hotel. But they are no Disney Hotels. (means no Characters and not as much benefits as in the Disney Hotels)

We spend the whole day in the parks from morning til closing time, we then spend some time in the village so by the time we get back to our hotel all we want to do is sleep. Staying at the more expensive hotels is just not worth it for us as we wouldn't make the most of the facilities. We've stayed at all the Disney hotels and now we choose to stay only at the Cheyenne. It's an enjoyable walk back to the hotel from the park, nicely themed, rooms are fine, and it's very reasonably priced.

My advice would be, stay at the Cheyenne and any money you've saved from staying at a more expensive hotel will be extra spending money for you and your family.

I have been lucky enough to stay at all the on-site hotels and at the ranch and they are all brilliant. Of course, I like the Disneyland best but it is expensive. I have stayed only once off-site at the Explorers and absolutely hated it (I will probably get flamed for this). The rooms were horrible, service poor and don't get me started on the buses!!! I would defimately stay on-site even the budget end are really good (particualy Cheyenne). My favourite way of getting there is Eurostar. Restaurants:- Walts, Agrabah Cafe, Auberge de Cinderellion, Annettes, buffet at Billy Bobs, Cafe Mickey and most of the restaurants at the resorts are good. Hope this helps:thumbsup2

all the advice was gret
i have a question
is their a disney resort that is within walking distance from the park?
thanks for all the help:goodvibes

All of the Disney hotels except DCR are within walking distance.
DLH is at the gate, New York is aboout 5 mins walk, NPB and S Lodge about 10-15 mins and Santa fe and Cheyenne about 15-20.
It is a lovely walk to the hotels - through Disney Village and by the Lake.

With the exception of DLH they all have shuttle buses as well though.
