Hello,

We leave January 4th, for our special disney World Vacation! I am going over things, and I am re-thinking things! Need opinions etc.! There is 6 of us 2 adults and 4 children 10,8,8 &6! We are staying at POP 2 connecting rooms, AAA rate for 8 nights! Tickets bought through ticketmania 7 day MYW base tickets and tickets into Disney Quest! I have made ADR's at 6 restaurants (Chef mickey, liberty tree, coral reef, san angal, whispering canyon & Sci Fi)all for lunch! I am now re thinking the dinning plan! I didn't go with it originally due to my 10 year being considered an adult, and a very picky eater! Trying to figure out what would be best! If I go with dinning plan, I would have to purchase an extra MYW ticket for each of us, and not to sure if I would lose my AAA rate which saved us over $200.00! Do you think it is worth it or better to pay OOP, because it would be cheaper? I booked 6 ADR's just so we would have a variety and plan on sharing meals, we also plan on eating breakfast in our room! Please help! :confused3

My kids-12 and 15-hated the dining plan. They hated the time it took away from the parks. They enjoyed the kid menus, and ate from them over the adult menus. They loved the food, but they were not eating dessert by the end. It was free for us, but if we were going again-and had to pay for it-we'd stick to counter service.

Thanks for your reply Debbie, Do you know/or anyone else know if we ate at a table service, does my 10 year old have to order from adult menu??(without dinning plan) or can he order from kids menu? He definetly will not eat much from adult menu!

Thanks,
Dawn

Dawn, that is the one advatage to the plan. The kids over ten can order what they want, from whichever menu they want. At Concourse Steak, my kids ordered the steak, but DD 15 ordered the kids dessert....she wanted to paint the cookies! LOL They loved Sci Fi best-they got shakes, a drink and a dessert! HTH

motherof4, with the new kids menu I don't think the DDP is a good thing anymore :confused3

We have the plan for our next trip in 26 days, but i'm sure i won't be as happy as last january trip with the DDP.

Without the plan you can order anything in the kids or adults menu and share between your children....maybe thats the best way to save money.

unless you only want to do buffet restaurant....

Thanks guys, I think I will stick with my orginal plan, and pay OOP! My Husband and I usually share meals when we go out for dinner, that way we always get an appetizer, main dish & dessert! The kids usually can share as well! I just know my 10 year old won't be thrilled with adult menu, looking at some of the items, and want to make sure he will be able to order from kids menu! We only have one ADR buffet at Chef Mickey's for lunch! ADR's also arn't written in stone, and if we feel we would rather eat counter service, so be it!

Thanks,
Dawn

I think you're making the right choice. The Dining Plan is better if you do a lot of table service, or it's being offered free. To pay for it takes away from its cost effectiveness for casual diners. On average, our family of 3 spends about $75 a day on food, compared to the $105 we would pay for DDP. Have a great time!
