good morning! just back from our travels to the world late last evening and my bf and I are buying into DVC ....went on a tour of SSR and loved what we saw. we were staying at WL and we like that booking at all the properties is an option...

read some of these boards last night and got a tad nervous ....I think we are doing the right thing...a couple of questions... did most of you buy through Disney or another source? we definitely need to do the financing option - any problems booking at other properties? We understand about the wait list....

just want to make sure we are going in the right direction...we spoke to quite a few people at the parks ( guests) and one and all seemed thrilled with the experience..

so, why wouldn't we want to join?

Since you are obviously young enough, I would definitely buy into SSR for the extra years. Our only regret when we bought 9 years ago was that we didn't do it sooner. We first heard of DVC back in 1992, and we have kicked ourselves for not buying in then. Instead, we waitd "until we thought we could afford it". In reality, we could have afforded it back then, but we wanted to pay cash. If you need to finance, definitely go through Disney. Unfortunately, you have just missed out on a great discount program.

We bought through Disney. If you need financing options you can finance through Disney, if you buy resale you have to find your own financing like a home equity loan or something.

As for booking other resorts, haven't really tried it for me yet, so I am not sure. I did book CR Tower with points no problem, booked SSR for F/W yesterday, booked it for last November vacation about a month and a half prior to arrival.

From the looks of your signature line you visit regularly and stay at Mod or better resorts. To me it is a no brainer. I have not had any trouble booking at the other resorts "yet". We booked OKW at the 7month mark and Vero at the 7month mark. I could not get BWV for July in the standard view, but that was no biggie for us. We financed through Disney and it was a breeze. It is a short term mortgage and you can pay it off early with no penalty. We have not even been "home" yet and the only regret we have is not buying sooner. We could have actually paid for it already with as many trips as we have made. Good Luck and hope to welcome you home soon.
