HELP! Yacht Club Resort Issue:

On the 3rd to the last day of our trip, we came back from the parks to let the kids take a nap and walked into a construction site. QUOTE]

I missed that part of the OP's post where they mentioned that the "construction crew hadn't reached that part of the resort as of yet." Can you point it out? If the OP didn't mention this, please let me know how you had such clairvoyance into the conditions that lead to the issues experienced by OP better than the OP themself since you weren't there.

In bold - if there was construction in their 'section' I would think OP would've complained or brought it to someone's attention sooner.

The OP says they same back to their room on the 3rd day and they encountered construction bins in the hallway.

On the 3rd to the last day of our trip, we came back from the parks to let the kids take a nap and walked into a construction site. We could not walk down the hallway because of large construction dumpsters and workers everywhere wearing masks. The rooms all around us were GONE…Completely gutted to the studs with the bathrooms removed too!

Apparently more than just construction bins. In a matter of hours it sounds like it went from nothing/no workers/no construction to complete destruction and mayhem

All i know is I want to hire those construction workers because when we had construction done in our town, it took them one day just to seal off the area they were working on before they even got to start the demolition.

You're missing the point. They returned and discovered the construction ALREADY going on. Apparently no castmembers (cleaning staff, bell hops, etc.) thought to communicate this to the hotel management BEFORE the OP returned. No arrangements were made in anticipation of this construction being done. Therefore, a string of failures.

You say tomato, I say tamato. Either way ONE failure of management to have been in communication with construction crew to determine they were moving on to OPs area. Human error. No one is perfect. S**t happens. OP was moved and was somehow compensated. In what form, I dont know because well I'm not clairvoyant.

No one is saying mistakes weren't made. Some of us just feel that being moved and given compensation at the time was enough.

I could be wrong, but the OP did not seem to be unhappy with the compensation until he returned home and shared his experiences. The he changed his mind. For me, that is a part of the issue.

I think that sending a message to Guest Relations is not overkill, however I think it is too late to be dissatisfied with the level of service. If the OP thought that the "few things" were inadequate compensation for the inconvenience, he should have given the manager the opportunity to respond at the time.

As you said, if OP was not satisfied with the compensation or room they were moved to, the time to address that I would think would be then and there. Not months later. And I further agree that sending a message to GR is not a bad thing, but the 2nd video was just off putting.

We were moved to the Beach Club and they gave us a few small things for the inconvenience, but the more my wife and I look back on it, the more upset we are about the whole situation. We spent a lot of money for a deluxe resort and this issue ruined/overshadowed the end of our trip. It completely threw off the last 2.5 days of our vacation and it now seems to be the only thing that our kids remember about the trip.

What does everyone think? And what can I do about it?

Like others have said, you can let it go. You complained while there, they moved you and compensated you in some way. Sorry but 3 months later still dwelling on it completely throwing off your last 2.5 days and ruining the end of your trip is all on you. You got moved to BC, its not like you were moved to a different resort location, or a lower level resort. Yes, it is an inconvenience to have to pack up your stuff, but really all you had to do was have bell services take care of it, go to the park and get a text with your new room assignment. Did you lug all your stuff, did you have to sit in the lobby and wait? Just curious because if you did, those are things that should have been addressed at the time.
At this point it just seems like you are thinking of ways to get more out of Disney.
