ARE you from the SOUTH!?!?!What kind of question is that????I am sorry but I really take offense to that and I think an apology is in order there to all of our Southern Members.

The op's post is very well written and I understood it completely, being written in complete sentences and spelled correctly does usually lead to an easy to read and understand post for most.

Mal

I agree completely. I was offended by the Southern remark and I'm from California!(Hubby is from Louisiana... )

The only thing that was not crystal clear in the original post, but implied was that the guest reported a boy to VMK.

I feel very bad for you and your family. My kids play with me and we would be devasted if this happened. My children have read the VMK values and try very, very hard to follow them. When my daughter said something she should not have to her brother, they were not allowed to play for quite a while (my ruling) and learned their lesson quickly. (It wasn't that bad, but I wanted to get the point across)

I hope this gets cleared up soon! :guilty:

Thanks to all for the input regarding the "South" comment. I chose not to entertain such a comment at a risk to lose the focus of the intended post. and knew other members would read it and chime in.

However, there was a lesson learned by the post. I showed my son the post and we chatted about statement and respect for people. Sort of do's and don't and common respect for people.

Regarding the "Other Player": He had a "Guest#####" name. We don't recall the exact number sequence but we do remember the time it occurred and the room the Guest player owned (it was his room). Hopefully VMK can cross reference the room with the owner and ban him.

As another poster mentioned, it is possible the Guest player requested to ban my son stating he stole the magic pin. Therefore, he would get the pin from the staff for free. Hopefull VMK will research the issue and they will be able to discredit the Guest, if this if it is the case and prove my son had the Inferno pin for quite a while.

Again, thanks to all for your support and kid words. It is refreshing to hear there are some folks out there that truly care and the sole focus isn't to tear apart posts requesting help.

Wow. I can't believe they ban people based only on the word of one person. :confused3
They can't! That is what confuses me most about this situation. I read the newsletter one time and it had tips about trading. It said that a player is NEVER banned because someone reported him/her alone, but it does say that scammers are against VMK law, and will be banned.

What I think happened:

Guest####### sent in a report about someone trying to scam them. Staff then looked at the trade, forgot who sent in the report (either guest##### or your son), saw the conversation and found that SOMEONE DID try to scam SOMEONE, and assumed that your son was the one, and banned him.

Maybe staff should get the names of the people who send in complants straight before they go banning people.

I feel so sorry for your son. I really hope your son gets back into VMK ASAP!!Tell him to keep his hopes up. This situation will soon be cleared up.

Wishing you the best of luck,
Dis-Wiz

That is what I think that this Guest was doing. The Staff did not read the transcripts closely enough and ban your son.

I hope you get this resolved as quickly as possible.

Yeah I think this happens sometimes- where the wrong party gets banned or a warning that shouldn't have

DH once got a warning for inappropriate behavior in a room he had just walked into and sat down- probably there was someone else in the room reported- and my husband got the blame for something that happened when he wasn't even in the room

So Sorry to hear about your child get a wrongful ban- like others who have posted before me- report the incident just like you did in the post (very well written btw) and if you don't hear from them in a few days report it again

Oh- and Mal- thanks for defense of us southerners :)

U should explain that to contact us ! It is not fair ur son did nothing and got punished for it !

BTW, Azure , u got dc bc u were not popular ?! i didnt even no that could happen!

Someone scammed me on a trade my first day (before I got on this forum and got wise!), and after repeated messages I finally got a response that was basically too bad, be careful with your trades before clicking the accept button. That didn't help a newbie vs. a trading predator!

In your case, Steve, I would be furious ! Think of all the time and money you all spent when your son was doing park quests. When we did the quests, the staff members took up a lot of our valuable Disney time (the tickets cost a fortune, not to mention travel, lodging etc.!!!) with inefficiency etc., disappearing when we needed help and making us wait repeatedly in the VMK shop... also I remember one shop guy jerking us around by pretending he had quest answers then saying why couldn't we figure it out without help, then pulling us back in as if he were going to help over and over and not wanting to let us go as if we had all the time in the world -- if that sentence was hard to read, imagine going through it!

The upshot is, if anyone banned me after all the effort and expense we went through to get the items, I would wish I knew a lawyer to sue the company! I do not think they have the right to do that as they are basically hired by Disney to market their products and attract people to the parks. If the "fun" of doing the quests get erased in the game (by getting banned or to a lesser extent even all this dc we go through!), that is counterproductive to Disney's intent of using the game as PR.

WOW that is horrible. The thing is is that it is horrible just to get beanned but your son has been playing everyday since day 1. That is a true heartbreaker. Good luck!!

I've seen sad things and this made the list. I feel so bad for your son.... It's either they weren't reading with glasses or somebody just didn't look.

Don't you think this constitutes as reason for all the DIS people to start sending in letters to the black hole demanding a reinstation? I could have sworn DIS did that a while back to a cL who was unfairly banned....and he eventually got reinstated. Just seeing everybody's reactions makes me think it might help!

the next message you send in you should put the link to this site on it so they can see what we all have to say

1. I thought Steve's original post was well written, so that "Are you from
the South?" question seemed completely inappropriate. Chicago people must
know how to read. ;)

2. I agree with the advice to contact VMK with the post you've written,
including the date and time for transcipt reviews.

3. I would add one more piece of advice to every parent and player out
there:

If you or your child finds themselves in a trade window where a player is
involved in a potential scam for their items, exit the trade, click on their
avatar and hit the "Report" button. The reason can state, "Player might
be trying to cheat people out of their stuff."

This way, if the other player does report you, you have a report against
them as well, and VMK would be more likely to review it more carefully.

I really feel sorry that your son was banned, Steve. I hope it all works out.

Very interesting. I asked my son and he has never even been given a warning. Actually, he chats with the VMK cast members often.

Wow... that is very touching there are so many caring people... The support is unreal... thank you. :grouphug:

I will continue to send letters every other day until the request is heard and responded to...

Does anyone know him in VMK? His player name is "Mickbee".

Sorry to hear what has happened to your son. My DD was scammed a few different times when trading to a point that she is not allowed to trade without me present. You should ask your son if he remember anyone else who was present in the room when this incident happened. If he remembers anyone, see if they are registered in here or the fan site and ask them to send you an e-mail explaining what they saw happening and forward that to the black hole.

I was going to suggest this as a next step if the issue is not resolved.

Excellent point! Help me understand something; the room he was at the time was the player in question's room. He went to the room as a trading room (or so he thought) as it was on the "popular room" list. Initially I asked "How does someone with the name "guest#####" have a popular room?". It was my understanding the new players are named "Guest###" until the name is approved. If so, how does a new player get so popular so fast... Food for thought.

This might not be the "right thing" to do, but in this case it seems like it could help the situation. You can call your ISP (Internet Service Provider ) and request a new IP address. This way, you and your Dw can play, and even let your son use those accounts. I know this might be "cheating" but you really got the wrong side of this situation. Hope that helps a little.

It becomes a popular room because of the number of people in that room at that time.

Many new guests want to be on the popular list so they have trade rooms, cute or boot rooms or the most popular "Boy find a girl" rooms! Those fill up fast :)
