Hiya Prue,
We've only stayed in a villa once, and it was with extended family. The Villa was at Terra Verde, an I found this to be very close to Disney, WalMart, Publix, and it also has a nice clubhouse.
On site, If they have a big budget I would have to recommend the Polynesian.
Of course this is only my family's personal opinion but it was so convenient being in a monorail resort, and it is soooo beautiful, with an amazing atmosphere, Ohana's and Kona Cafe are an added bonus.
The Beach Club was nice also, and if she has sons they might like the close proximity to epcot, and MGM. I say this because my sons would spend all their time at epcot, although I know it is a favourite of many.
Beach Club also has an amazing pool and of course it's home to my favourite - Beaches & Cream - those burgers.........
Being a family of 5, we stayed at these resorts when the kids were younger, and we all fitted into one room easily. Now we need 2 rooms or there would definately be casualties.(unfortunately disney magic does not stretch to making my 3 tolerate each other too much), so we are now Port Orleans Riverside converts. It has a great food court, nice pools and a boat to take you to Downtown Disney which is a lovely break in an evening, and it costs about the same or less for 2 rooms than a Deluxe is for 1.
I know how you feel - I have been helping 2 different friend with their wdw holidays, and I feel kind of responsible for their enjoyment, as it was me banging on about how great it is that's made them go.

Hi Prue,

For villas I would recommend staying in Kissimmee where there are 2 main areas, Formosa Gardens and Poinciana Boulevard.
Either is a sound choice but I have a preference for FG area where the likes of Windsor Palms, Indian Creek and Emerald Island are located.

You have restaurants within easy reach, a Publix supermarket less than a mile away and Disney/I4 easily accessible too.

Link below is the home we are staying at for part of our 2008 holiday, we have stayed there before and the owners are brilliant - I am certain you would get a good deal if you mention my name.

It's a fairly new 5 bedroomed home on Indian Creek, private secluded pool and ideally located.

Any questions please feel free to PM me. ;)

I think I would be inclined to compile a fact sheet and let them make their own choices, rather than try to tailor-make a trip based on someone else's preferences.

As far as the onsite trip goes, you could detail the 3 different categories of accommodation and then go on to list specifics, explaining which ones are on the monorail, which ones are within walking/boat distance of Epcot/MGM, and which are further afield and thus rely on bus transportation.

There are so many villa sub-divisions out there now. It would help to know whether they want cheap and cheerful, or top of the range (or something in between). With two or more groups sharing, even the higher end ones could work out fairly cheap. Is being close to Disney a priority? Have they been to Orlando before?

Thanks lisa, johnny and debbie,

Lisa, we have been to POR three times and love it! my friend has a girl and a boy and it will be a once in a life time v. special holiday for her two as a single mum... so will def. recommend beach club and grand floridian. Thank you for your kind words.

Johnny, will be in touch, definitely.

Debbie, how true, a fact sheet will be the way to go!

have been away for the weekend so sorry i havent responded before.

best wishes,
Prue
