HELP with World of Color

Eat at Ariel's to get a better place for WOC, or will the picnic work just as well?

  • Eat at Ariels so the kids can have a better view

  • Picnic because it doesn't matter that much

So, I am going to be taking my 3 children to World of Color on Thursday, May 17. This is the only day we are able to go.
CA does not have a very high crowd rating (2.2 on touring plans). However, it is grad night. Should I be worried about this? Do grads want to see WOC that much?

I keep reading conflicting things on the WOC packages. To be honest, I don't like any of the food offerings, so I would rather pay $15 for the PB&J picnic meals (we will be in DL that day and I want to secure the FP easily), but I HAVE to have a front row seat on some section so the kids can see. Has anyone been to WOC before? Do I have a better chance of getting front row if I eat at Ariel's (already have reservations and they seemed to have plenty left)? Or, can I just get the picnic package and still have front row seats fairly easily?

It looks like any way I go, I will probably have to stand in line an hour or so to get in and get the better seats.

Grads will not impact WoC.

To get the best view do not consider those meal options.

Consider this, no matter how you get a Show Pass, and for what veiwing area it is for, the key is to be there before other people. Show up 15 minutes before the return time, and get into the viewing area quickly, take any spot along the railings in any tier, so nobody is in front of you.

Unless something has changed, the "tickets" you get with the picnic are the same ones they hand out at the fast pass booth.

What we did when we were there in October was eat breakfast at Whitewater Snacks (we didn't stay at the GC) then entered through the GC entrance which dumps you right by the fast pass machine for WOC as soon as they started letting people into the park.

But I think even when we checked back later in the day, there were still fast passes to be had so I don't know that you will have a hard time getting them.

But getting there early is key so that you are at the front of whatever place you are going to watch from.

Why won't the grads affect WOC? They are able to park hop over, aren't they?

If DCA and DL are at capacity, WoC will not be any more crowded. Added crowds make no difference because WoC's viewing area has a set capacity and requires a Show Pass to enter.

Would you expect WOC to be at capacity with grad nights? Touring plans rated CA a 2 and it is a Thursday in May. Do that many grads go to this?

I bought the expensive dinner and was sorely disappointed. I was smack dab in the middle of a crowd of people and couldn't see a thing. The Key is be there early and get next to a railing. You'll see it fine then. The last time I went, was during spring break (I didn't think I had a snowballs chance of seeing the show.) We got into Anaheim late and I didn't get a ticket to see WOC. But surprisingly the crowd level in DCA was low that day (Monday, I believe) and we waited until the late show. I simply asked a CM what was the chance that we'd be allowed into the viewing area and they asked me to stand away until they had moved all of the ticketed people into the area then they would get me and move me in if there was room. Well, the second show crowd was very small and even after everyone was moved in, there was a bunch of railing areas left. True to their word they moved us in and we had a great time, and I didn't spend a unreal amount of money on a superfluous meal. I'm not saying this will work everyday, but if you notice that DCA is slow. Ask and the CM's might just help you out.

WOC is always at capacity. Skiingfast is right that crowds or no crowds makes little difference to WOC.
