I've booked a Disney vow renewal next March to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. I'm really excited about it and it will just be me, DH and DD (then 11).

My question to anyone else who has done a vow renewal is what did you wear? First I thought about a "big" dress but am not sure it is worth the expense and am now leaning towards a really nice dress or suit or possibly even matching outfits for me and DD?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Well, TECHNICALLY our wedding in September will be a vow renewal (just four days after the "official" ceremony at the local courthouse), and I opted to wear a simple white dress. Very summery and light...I did not want to wear the big wedding gown, and DH2B didn't want to wear a suit! :)

I think most people here will tell you to wear what YOU want! ;)

It will be YOUR day and, just like your wedding day, should be done in the way you want it to be! If you want it to be super formal, it can me, I've seen many vow renewal brides go all out again, while others have opted for something a little more casual...

Whatever you decide, just have fun!

Are you planning to include your DD in the vow renewal ceremony? Many of the officiants will do something "special" to make her a part of it. I think it's a nice touch, especially for an 11 yo girl!

Congratulations!

HOw big is your VR is it custom or intimate, not that it should make a difference, but I know a lot of women wear a more bride like dress the bigger the occassion. But hey it's totally your choice, heck if you wanted to wear jeans you could.

I've seen some beautiful calve length dresses oh and some cute matching outfits for ceremonies at Sunset Pointe.

Maybe you should post some pictures here so we all get to help you choose ;)

I just renewed my vows for my ten year at the WP in May. I knew I didn't want to wear my original dress (long train, lots of bead work etc). I thought I might be able to find something nice off the rack at a department store but I couldn't find anything. Plus my DDs 3 & 4 both wanted to wear fancy flower girl dresses. Then I found out about the MK bridal portrait session (picutres in front of the castle) and before you know it I was wearing an official wedding gown. However it was very simple - no train, and no bead work or sequins, just an elegant full length white dress. About a week before the wedding I decided to get Tiaras for me and the girls. I was very happy the way it all looked. But as the people who posted above said, wear what you want.

Congratulations on 15 years!

My brother in law is surprising my sis with a vow renewal at the Poly Sunset Pointe and has recruited me to help.

We are keeping it to a very casual luau theme. I bought my sis a beautiful tropicl print sundress and sandals and BIL a matching shirt that he will wear with dockers and topsiders. There DD's(9&14) will be wearing full length sarong skirts with matching tops and pretty beaded sandals. The three guests are me, my DD and my mom and we'll all be in tropical sundresses as well. We're ordering fresh flower lei's from Hawaii (much cheaper than DWF).

Now when I was planning all of this I was starting to think we were going in the wrong direction, however I called my EM, explained my concerns to her and she laughed. She said do what you want, we've seen everything from gowns that cost thousands to bathing suits, yes bathing suits. She said many vow renewals try to keep it less formal.

Bottom line, follow your heart and do what will make you and your family happy.

Thanks for your comments.

Sam - it is an intimate - just the 3 of us. What a great idea to post some pictures and may be have a poll!
Hiwaygal - I had heard that some officiants can include our DD in a special way and this is certainly what we would like. Once we know who this will be we will make contact but will mention it in our wedding pack.
CinderellaIam - this is a lovely idea I'm sure you'll all look great.

We've requested the ceremony at the Polynesian. I know DH won't want to wear a full suit in the heat, DD given a choice (she doesn't know about the vow renewal or holiday yet) would want a full bridesmaid dress and I think I would like something smart but comfortable that could be worn again. I also quite like the idea of co-ordinating my outfit with DD's.

I'm looking around at the moment but also on a diet which will hopefully open up a larger selection of dresses etc!

Poohmadmum, congratulations on your upcoming anniversary. I hope it is ~magical.~

Definitely do as the others have mentioned and wear whatever your heart desires. The Polynesian location will make for some gorgeous photographs of your vow renewal party. I'm sure that whatever outfit you choose to wear, it will look stunning.

I renewed my vows in Walt Disney World for my 20th wedding anniversary last October and chose a very simple, floor-length gown that suited me to a "T." However, had I had the personality for it, I would have chosen one of those ballerina-type of gowns. I think they're beautiful (as are so very many other gowns, ~sigh~).

Click here to see what I wore. For the ceremony inside the Wedding Pavilion, I wore my hair up. But on the morning before my vow renwal when I had my Magic Kingdom portrait session, I chose to wear my hair down (like I normally do). Click here to see one of my favorite locations in all of Walt Disney World.

If you'd care to read about my vow renewal, just PM me for the link to it (or search for it here on the Dis' Trip Reports board). The Fairy Tale Weddings folks planned one heck of a memorable vow renewal for me. The day that I said, "I do, again," to my husband was one of the most perfect days of my life (and definitely one of the happiest). Again, congratulations to you on your 15th anniversary.
