My hubby is returning back from Afghanistan soon. We are looking to book a Disney trip mid September. For the trip it would be me, him, our 2 yr old and my mom.

We are hoping my mom will be up to taking the 2 yr old back to the room after dinner time so DH and I can enjoy all the "fun" rides. Perhaps go out and have a few drinks... continue the fun at the room ;).

So.. we need either 2 rooms OR a place with 2 separate sleeping spaces. My mom is elderly (going on 80) so we would like a place we can travel with her quickly to the room and then back. If it were a place on a direct monorail or boat path, she may be able to handle that on her own. I'm wary of any place that requires shuttle bc that means a shuttle ride for us all back to the hotel, then a shuttle ride for me and DH back to the park and I feel that will eat up too much of our time.

Oh, and we are on a fairly strict budget. We get some relief as I believe we qualify for the 40percent off for military, but even with that I don't think we would be able to swing 2 rooms at the Poly *my top choice if we had unlimited budget*

Any and all suggestions welcomed :D

What about the family suites at Art of Animation? There's one room that's separate with a door, and two more beds (a pulldown, and a sofa bed) in the main living space. It'll really probably be your best bet.

And as for the buses, they're really quite manageable. I know they lower closer to the curb so it isn't a huge step up or down, and the stops and buses are clearly labeled with destination.

Have you considered 2 rooms at the Wilderness Lodge? It's inexpensive, nice-looking, has a pool, and a direct boat from the Magic Kingdom.

You might check out two rooms at Shades of Green. I heard that the room prices can be pretty reasonable. The room rates are based of military pay grades. It is just across from the GF and has it's own busses.

Shades of Green has suites with two sleeping areas that are more reasonably priced than Disney hotels, and they offer GREAT deals for soldiers who are just returning from a combat zone. You have to show your orders when you check in.

If you really want to stay on Disney property, consider staying at the Ft. Wilderness Cabins which also have two separate sleeping areas. They also have kitchen/fridge/stove. If that is out of your price range then stay at Art of Animation suites.

You are taking advantage of the armed forces salute right????? Best Disney deal ever!

Actually, Shades of Green is on Disney property. Perhaps you meant "stay in a Disney-owned property"?

Not just for park tickets. Military can get great discounts on Disney resorts too- up to 40% on deluxe resort rooms. :thumbsup2

First of all, I would like to thank your Husband for his service to this Nation! Second, thank you, for his service is also yours! I would like to also suggest Shades of Green. It's there for you! :thumbsup2

Contemporary: On monorail line and had a walking path to MK, cheapest of monorail resorts. The monorail would get you to MK, and Epcot. Other parks, you would just have to take a bus. Places such as AK, BB, and TL are only accessible by bus, so you can't avoid buses to there.
Wilderness Lodge: Boat to MK, buses elsewhere. Cheapest Deluxe but beautiful, very small and convenient.
Shades of Green: Great prices for your family. Only accessible to parks by bus. Non-disney owned.
Beach Club, Boardwalk: Accessible to TWO parks by boat (Epcot and Hollywood). Other parks by bus. Cheaper than Poly but still great.
Swan/Dolphin: Non-disney owned, same transport as BC and BW and uses disney transport. I will not continue on because I do not know if you want moderates or values. Thank your husband for his service and thank you also!
