I have just booked my first flight with westjet, usually always fly SW.

I have paid the extra for picking my seats is there anything else we have to do?

Do we need to check in online before we get to the airport???

DO we need to enter passport info online before we go????

Anything else???

Thank you

Kim

We usually print out our boarding passes at home (you can do that 24 hours before your flight). That saves you the hassle at the gate. If you are checking luggage, you may as well opt out as you have to go the the desk and anyway. West Jet does not supply any meals. Once you are in the secure area, pick up something to eat and bring it with you. I don't think you need to enter any passport information. You have to show it once you land. DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR BACK POCKET!! This happened to our uncle, he was stranded in New York because the passport fell out and he couldn't find it. He had to go to the embassy in NYC and wait for a new one.

Thank you so much for the info.

Is your experience with WestJet a good one? I am a little nervous but was fairly happy with the price and flight times and the fact that they are direct flights was a complete bonus.

Be nice to have a TV on the way down, we usually fly SW and I always have to bring a portable DVD player.

Thank you for any and all info.

HEY!!

We booked our vacation through Westjet and the direct flight was a major convenience!!

They have TV's on all seat backs.
I did not book any seats, they are booked for you, so I do not understand why you had to pay extra. The seats are three across on both sides, and there were four of us. I stayed with the boys, DH sat across from us.
You can print off your boarding passes, but they will also print them for you at the Westjet check in area, so save your paper (hehe)
The wait is long, so be prepared before boarding.
They give you a glass of pop, juice or water in flight, and water just before landing.
The flight was fabulous!!

Hope this answers your questions, we love WJ, and I will only fly with them from now on!!:cheer2:

thanks for the info and reassurance.

To pick our seats ahead of time it was $10 pp, per flight. I was afraid to not do it incase they over sell the flight. at least this way I know I have a seat.

Thanks again

They are now offering the option to prebook a seat for about $10 (for the regular seats - I think $15 for the emergency row seats). I think they implemented this a week ago so it's fairly new.:)

Here is more news....

Westjet NEVER overbooks their flights!!!

NEVER!!!!!!

it is why they are getting so famous!!!

Have flown WJ 4 times in the last 2 years. They are a no frills airline that stresses customer service. The staff are all great to deal with. The flights are usually on time. The fee for seat slection is new. There used to be default seating. for example a family of 4 would be seating together, 4 across and then at 24 hrs before the flight you could checkin in online and change your seat for free. Now when booking your flight you can pay the fee and pick your seat before the 24 hr window. You can still wait until the online checkin period to pick your seat depending on what is left. Just flew in last night from PEI on WJ I had paid the fee for 2 window seats and waited for the checkin period to select the other 2 seats. I wanted to see if they would put the other members of my family beside us. They were together but 4 rows behind, I moved them to available seats beside the windows seats. Confusing I know. WJ is just keeping up with AC which charges for seats. I am just concerned that WJ would split kids from the parents.

I always check-in before going to airport even if I have luggage to drop off. They usually have a seperate and much shorter line for those who have checked in online.

If you fill out the passport info online you won't have to waste time at the airport doing it.

I have flown many times on WestJet. I recommended them to my MIL for her flight to LA. She enjoyed the flights so much that she wrote them. A couple of weeks later she got a call from Westjet thanking her for the letter and was told a copy of her letter was going to each of the flight attendants.
