Help with Water Park & Disney Quest Strategy please!

We are planning a trip in October and have Water Parks Fun & More this time around. We are going to hit Typhoon Lagoon on the first day there before it closes for the season.

We had originally planned to get to TL as soon as it opens (likely at 10), spend until about 2 or 3 there, then head to DTD to Disney Quest until about 7.

However, I am reading alot of different advice on the web. Lots of people say to hit DQ when it first opens at 11:30 because crowds build in the afternoons/evenings. Other people have said to hit TL and BB when it opens for lowest crowds and lines on the main attractions. And still others say that going to TL and BB towards the END of the day will also be good with thinned out lines and Florida showers scaring people off.

So...I'm curious what all of YOU suggest...should we plan on DQ first, then TL, or TL first, then DQ as originally planned?

On our last trip, we went to DQ twice. The first was around 3:30 on a weekday, the second was around 7 pm on a weekend. First day was amazing - no lines, stayed for hours. The second was a nightmare. We were out of there within 15 minutes because we couldn't take the crowds.

A problem you may come across with going to TL late in the day could be thunderstorms. We've gone to SeaWorld's waterpark and stayed for a few hours, then around 2 or 3 a terrible storm rolled in and all of the rides closed, while it continued to rain, thunder and lightning for an hour. The storms are usually gone as quick as they come, but sometimes you get ones that don't.
