Hi, hoping to get some help from all you experienced DVC members. Thinking of buying in and wondering about UY, we usually go to the world in Dec but we also like Sept. What would be the best month to suit these months. We are looking at resale for SSR. Thanks for any help:thumbsup2

Define "usually go in December". Does this mean 90%+ of your trips in the forseeable future? If so, I would probably go with a Dec use year. If you did have to cancel a Sept reservation in aug, you wouldn't have an ideal situation to use those points but if a september reservation would be fairly rare, I'd say it's Ok.

If your travel will most likely be more of a 50/50 split between sept and dec trips, then I'd go with a Sept use year. Any Dec trip cancellations will still be done in plenty of time to bank those points.

You may already know this, but UY has nothing to do with when you can book a reservation. You can always book at your home resort 11 months in advance and other resorts 7 months in advance as long as you will have the points available at the time you are reserving.

Many people new to DVC don't understand that and think they have to wait for their points to be "deposited" into the account before they can make a reservation.

I'd go for a September UY with your scenario, but in reality UY doesn't come into play unless you cancel a trip, especially within 30 days of the trip. My guess is that coming from your part of the world you are used to making firm reservations well in advance for WDW so hopefully you won't have to worry much about cancellations.

Good luck, and keep asking questions!! :)

Thanks for your help, clears up some things sorry about slow reply but with the time difference there is a bit of a lag thanks again:thumbsup2
