I am so confused. I am trying to upgrade our GAD tickets to a 3 day hopper, no expiration. Do I use the ticket 1st, then upgrade when leaving park to a hopper with 3 more days-can I now hop to another park that day and still have 3 days left that don't expire?

1. Exchange the GAD Voucher for a GAD ticket. Enter the Park.

2. Before entering your next park (either inside the first or at any Park ticket window) upgrade the GAD ticket to any ticket you want.

3. Note that any ticket you upgrade to by adding days, the first day of that ticket has been used by the GAD ticket. So if you want theree more days, you must upgrade to a four day ticket.

4. It costs $52 plus tax to upgrade any ticket to a hopper, whether it is one day or ten, adult or child, on the first day of validity or the last day.

5. If you want to add No Expire, the fee is based on the total number of days on the ticket; not the number of days remaining. It currently costs $24 on a tghree day ticket and $52 on a four day ticket.

Just got back from WDW today after staying for 8 wonderful nights at the Poly! We upgraded out GAD vouchers to AP's and did NOT have to use them first. The CM at the window outside the MK did everything right there and we never had to use them first. We were surprised because of the info we read on the Disboards.

When upgrading to APs, it has been frequently reported that you don't have to use the GAD ticket first since the AP will expire in one year whether you use it that day or not. It is when redeeming for MYW tickets that people have had to use the GAD ticket first, although some have been able to do all upgrades at Will Call. It seems to depend on the CM.

Glad you had a great trip! :goodvibes

I used one voucher on 7/17 at MK and they gave me an upgrade to a 10 day right away.

Our friends also upgraded their GADs to 5-day hoppers immediately - on the spot and without entering the park first - at MK in March. Our personal experience doesn't count here because we upgraded to APs (not MYW tickets,) but the CM at the IG upgraded our GADs to APs immediately, too.

I know that an analysis of general ticket rules as applied to GAD suggests that entering the park is required, but I'm wondering if anyone has actually experienced that. In other words, has anyone had first-hand experience with a CM telling them they had to enter the park and then upgrade?

I know that might not seem like a big deal, but when you have three kids excited to get on with the day, standing in another line or even seeking out guest relations inside the park is a minor inconvenience. I know that we were thrilled to just get it done all at once, and so were our friends (and our 3 kids, and their 3 kids.)

I guess in the end, the important thing is that people know to at least tell the CM at the ticket window that they plan to upgrade - it might save guests a step later on.
