Help with understanding wait listing

We have been members of DVC since 2007 but I have never waitlisted before and am a bit confused!
We have a 2 bed villa booked at SSR for 8 nights (2 - 9 October) and then a 2 bed villa at BWV for 2 nights (10 - 12 October)
I want to waitlist to get a 2 bed villa on 9 October at BWV.
My question is - if the waitlist comes through, will the SSR villa on 9 October be cancelled automatically or do I need to do this myself?

You will need to do it yourself, unless you set up the BWV waitlist to replace the SSR reservation. And you do NOT want to do that. It would cancel the entire reservation!

You cannot set up a wait list to cancel just a single night of an existing reservation. So, hopefully, you have enough points to cover the wait list for that one night at the BWV without having to cancel the night of the 9th at SSR first. If the wait list comes through, you will have to cancel the overlapping night at SSR. It will not be automatically done.
