Here's our problem. DH and I invited his grandparents who live in The Villages (1 hour out of Disney) to have dinner with us at DTD on our first night. We don't get to see them often, so it seemed perfect. DH just got an email back from his DGF who said they're having problems driving at night, so they couldn't meet us. He went on to invite us to The Villages and seems really excited to have us out there for the night.

Here's the transportation issue. If we rent a car at the airport and drive to The Villages and then to Pop, how do we get the car back to the rental company? We'll be using Disney Transportation for the length of our stay, so we don't need the car - and then we'll do the ME on the way back.

Are there any companies that would pick the car up? I've never really dealt with any transportation other than Disney's so any help would be great. :) Thanks!

If you rent it from National/Alamo, there are 2 locations onsite, one at S/D, and one at the Car Care center. You can get a ride back from the rental agency to your resort, or if you are going to Epcot or MGM after dropping off at S/D, just walk out the back door and onto the boat.

Remember that a rental "day" is 24 hours, so you may as well keep the vehicle more or less that long. You don't have to bother with returning it as soon as you get back to WDW from the GP's, you can wait until the next day.

When checking out car rental prices, keep in mind that Alamo/National is not the only rental company on Disney property. At a minimum Avis and Dollar are also on property so be sure to check them too.

Jeff - I was not aware of this. Where are Avis and Dollar located on property??

They are in DTD hotels.
Avis is at the Hilton
Dollar is at the Grosevnor.

Easy to get to and from.

Thank you Carol - I guess I don't really think of those resorts as being "onsite"

Just so you know... you don't have to be flying into OIA to take advantage of DME to the resort. You can drop off the car at the airport, and then take DME to the resort.
