Heading to Universal 8/6-8/12 with family of 5 (kids are all teens). I need at least one AP to get the hotel room discount. Please help with which tickets to buy. I'm so confused with buying tickets from UT and upgrading?? We want to visit all 3 parks while we are there - US/IOA twice and VB once (unless you need more than 1 day there). I feel like a dummy when I'm reading these threads about upgrading and AP's or multi day tickets. Can someone help with which tix make the most sense and save the most $$? Thank you so much in advance :)

You can just get the cheapest seasonal pass since August has no blockout dates.

There are no guarantees about what credit you will get from UT tickets. They have a variety of different ones at different prices with different promos. I would just get what you need in terms of parks and days and not anticipate to be getting any bargain if you upgrade.

I haven’t checked the AP rate thread. Are rates out for August? If not, know that they aren't guaranteed. Before buying the AP make sure the rate is out (and youve booked it) for your trip. Only then buy the AP.

October ap rates not out yet
Forgive my newbness but the AP rate thread says AP rates are out for all properties through the end of September? When I look up my dates for first week of August it gives me an AP rate. Is this not valid? Will it go down ever more?

Sorry that’s was a typo
October ap rates not released yet

I’ll correct my error so not to confuse the info

If you can get the AP rate now, I would book it. If it goes down, just rebook it at the lower price.
