Help with Ticket Expiration

We bought 6 6day tickets for our family's upcoming trip. This morning my MIL broke her wrist and will be unable to come due to needing surgery. Her ticket is unused at this time, but I am sure it has an expiration right? The only expiration I can see on her ticket says expires 14 days after first use. Does this mean if she does not use the ticket it does not have an expiration? I'm guessing that would be too lucky and isn't the case, but I can't find an actual expiration date anywhere on it.

The ticket will expire 14 days AFTER you start using it, so you can use the ticket on a future vacation

If they are regular MYW tickets, the ticket will not expire as long as it is unused. The clock starts running on it the first time it is used to enter a park.

From the ticket FAQ sticky in the first page of this forum:

Expiration of Tickets

All ticket entitlements, including Park Hopper and WPF&M options, will expire 14 days after first use of any part of the ticket. It does not matter if first use is a major theme park, or, if you have the WPF&M option, first use is one of the minor parks. Note this is based on the first time the ticket is used.

As long as the ticket has not been run through any turnstile it is considered unused and is valid forever.

The only exceptions to this are tickets that specifically state have to be activated at or before a certain date. Certain DVC AP specials or armed forces ticket specials where the discounts were quite significant fell into this category.

Thank you so much! This is the news I was hoping for. I looked on the WDW website but must not have been searching the right spots.

I have another question. Her tickets are linked to FPs. Is this an issue? Will she be able to link them to FPs again in the future if she doesn't end up using her ticket or will her 6 days of FPs already be filled up? I hesitate to cancel them only because there is a chance she will be able to join us part way through the trip.

Yes, it's still a valid ticket.
