We are going to do Universal on a Saturday in October prior to our other travel plans. We are looking to book two nights (We have a late flight) at a partner hotel within walking distance because we just can't afford the on site hotels.

Here is the question. Should we spend more per person to book a WWOHP package so that we get early entry or should we just book the tickets and hotel seperately so we might be able to save some cash. We have never been to Universal before so Harry Potter is the draw for us.

The next question - we are traveling with 4 adults and plan to be there from open to close. Should we spend the extra $32 to be able to visit both parks - or will we not accomplish going through both parks in one day.

Any comments would be helpful.

I've always had better luck booking tickets & hotel seperately although all bets are off with WWOHP opening. You will probably be fine with just single park tickets as October isn't very busy unless you're staying for HHN. The hotels along Major Blvd are pretty close and most offer a shuttle to the parks. We stayed at the Doubletree Universal a few years ago and it was a 10 minute walk to the parks. We also took a taxi one night for around $6 which was well worth it.

Have fun whatever you decide, maybe we'll see you there in October as we're planning another trip.

I agree that HP opening is throwing everyone off. Normally October is a nice time to go.

I can't answer to the question about HHN closing the parks down earlier than normal. I know that they don't stay open all that late to begin with in the fall and winter.
