It's been a LONG, LONG time since I have flown, so please don't laugh but.......I just purchased my SW airline tickets, Now What?

I got a confirmation email from them, and it said something about them being ticketless?

Ticketless means no paper sent to you in the mail. Your email lists your confirmation number (you will need that).

If you did not do Early Bird check-in, here's the deal: at 24 hours before your flight (to the minute if you can manage it, you can't do it earlier) you should be logged into the SW website, have your confirmation number typed in and ready to check-in the people in your party. You then get an electronic boarding pass with a boarding letter (A, B or C) with a line number of 1-60. You can print that boarding pass, or reprint it at the airport when you check in bags. (If you have no bags to check, you can walk up to security with your printed boarding pass and ID, and proceed to the flight gate (which you would learn from the electronnic displays at the aiport).

At the gate, SW usually starts boarding at least 30 minutes before your flight (if the plane is there) and will you stand in line when it corresponds to your Letter (and in orfer by number). The plane boards in the following order: people needing assistance, A group, people with small kids, B group, thern last C group. You choose any open seat(s).

If you purchase the $10 early check in fee, are you guaranteed group A?

No, but you are guaranteed to be ahead of everyone who doesn't purchase EBCI. A1-A15 spots are reserved for Business Select travelers who pay much higher, refundable fares. In my vast Southwest flying experience, those 15 spots are rarely all taken.

The other think EBCI does is take off the hassle of having to check yourself in at 24 hours. This is especially nice if you have an early morning flight. (Our favorite way to travel to Disney is on an early flight on Sunday morning, but it's no fun to wake up at 5:45am to get ready to do the online check in on Saturday morning!)

I think it's well worth the cost for the convenience factor alone. Better boarding position is just icing on the cake.

Thanks so much for the information!!! And thanks for the info on the EBCI, I wondered if that was worth the extra money!!!

Now off to decide on Tiffany Towncar or ME!!
