We took the kids to Disney last September for the first time. They know that there aunt & uncle & cousin is going back again this year but they do not know that we are going also. :cool1: So...Please help with ideas on surprising them with the news. We have 2 girls that are 11 and a son that is 9. Thanks!

We are also planning to surprise our 2 girls 8 & 10. We will be going May 18 and plan on telling them in early May. This will limit our exposure but will still let them get ready for the trip

My parents took me on a surprise trip when I was younger. They packed all of the bags while I was out of the house and hid them. The morning that we left they both came into my room, woke me up and told me that I wasn't going to school. When I asked why they said we were going to Disney World. :woohoo: I was so shocked, but it was the best surprise EVER!!!

Just thought that I would share that with you and I hope that it helps.

We went December 2006, and surprised my daughter who is 7 with an early present from Santa. He came early and wrapped a big box with the travel documents,Christmas Party tickets, and other Disney items. We put some Mickey notebooks and pens, Ariel pens, Disney books, Tinkerbell backpack, and other stuff for the 10 hour drive. She was pleasantly surprised.

I don't know if you are traveling around a gift giving time like a birthday or such, but it is a thought.

You may even leave items or clues around the house when they come in from school to help build their collection of Disney stuff to build up to the big surprise. Like a treasure hunt that lasts for a couple of weeks or so..???

I did the disney enchanted call for my daughter last june. I selected the Mickey message that says something like "I heard you are coming for a visit and will see you later". I'm not certain of the words but it was really cute. I agree with post above, pack the bags after they go to bed.

How do you go about getting the disney enchanted call? I am also suprising my daughter, and exploring different ways of letting her in on the secret when the time comes

There is a thread, I believe it's on Disney for Families called Keeper of the Secret (or something like that) that has all kinds of neat ideas on how to surprise your family.

This was pretty low-key, but we gave the kids "Birnbaums Disney World For Kids By Kids" for their birthday and told them then. This was about three weeks before our trip (next week!). Happily, the planning video arrived the other day, and they loved watching that too.

Thanks for all the ideas. I am going to check out the enchanted call. I really like the scavenger hunt idea. Thanks again.:thumbsup2
