Last summer we ended up staying inside after about $50 and trying about 10 different types of sunscreen All with the same results. DS 2, would break out. I am hoping and praying that he has outgrown it and that we can find something.

What sunscreen do you use on your kids?

TIA

I use Aveeno baby Sunblock on my son and we've never had a problem. We initially started off using Mustela but the scent was awful so I threw it out. We're very happy with the Aveeno though.

If you write several of the companies and explain your situation, they will probably be happy to send you samples. The ones I can think of to try are Neutrogena, Mustela, Aveeno, etc... see if Burts Bees, California Baby, etc have sunblock. He might need one with only zinc oxide in it.

Good luck! What a frustrating problem!

My daughter uses Water Babies Spectra 3 and she has sensitive skin, although it has improved as she gets older.

I would check into California baby (ALL NATURAL) or Blue Lizard...my kids all have very sensitive skin and it works great.

My dd has very sensitive skin and eczema. We had a problem with sunscreen too. Once we used Aveeno we never had a problem again. princess:

These are the 2 that I looked at for my son. We are trying the Aveeno out next week...Mustela said right on the bottle, may stain clothes due to minerals. That turned me off of it right there. obviously, if the aveeno or something else does not work...I'll try it, but I really don't want to start out with something that will stain.

my ds' both have eczema, and my pediatrician wants them to use Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock

I also recommend the Aveeno. DS has eczema and Aveeno is very gentle to his skin.

My daughter breaks out with sunscreen, the only one she doesn't break out with is Neutrogena. I think Bullfrog (awesome stuff) did ok for her also.

We use Aveeno, it was recommended by my sons dermatologist.

Good luck!

Waterbabies is pretty highly scented; even without breakouts I find that the scent can attract bugs.

My DD has the same problem. Luckily she has nice olive skin and doesn't burn. BUT we're going to the beach soon and I have to find something. I've tried Neutragena and same result. I bought bullfrog, didn't try it yet, and just found Aveeno which is what we'll try next. Hopefully it will work! She uses Aveeno lotion and has no issues, so I'm hoping it will be the same for the sunscreen. Good luck!

Another vote for Neutrogena Sensitive Skin...Absolutely wonderful stuff!

This is actually a trick I learned from a friend who visited Disney and her child was getting a sunburn; the disney folks first aid people suggested she try penaten.

I swear by it, it is the only product I use for my kids.

It's very thick, use only small amount and stays on through any conditions, including water. You may need to spread it on thinly because it's quite thick, but it blocks all sun rays.

My dd now 8 hated bathing suits and always swam in the buff at my mom's pool since she was a baby. I only coated her skin with penaten and she never ever ever got a suntan or burn.

We always use it on our kids and they are in the extreme temps in pool water all day. They never burn.

So check baby section for Penaten and give it a try.

DD12 will break out in huge welts all over if she uses Banana Boat. So everyone uses Coppertone here. She will even break out with certain types of lotion. There must be a certain ingredient in them that cause her to break out.

Check the lables for what they are made of.

We had the same problem with both kids my daughter has grown out of it. Try using a lower sunblock and reapply more often. I learned that at first aid in WDW and BB (one time for each kid - you think I would have figured it out after the first kid) For us we use blue lizard on my sun (hypo allergenic but needs to be reapplied more often) and pink lizard for my daughter - which lasts for eight hours. I highly reccommend them
