Hi,
My parents (~60 years old) and I (31) are going to Disney World for the first time as a family. We're booked at PORS from 01/28-02/02! :cool1:

My brief draft of a plan is:
01/28 (Thu): Disney boardwalk or downtown disney (evening)
01/29 (Fri): Magic Kingdom
01/30 (Sat): Epcot
01/31 (Sun): Hollywood
02/01 (Mon): Animal kingdom + Downtown disney (evening)

(That's just an idea, I would love suggestions of another way to do it)

More importantly, I really need suggestions for great breakfasts and dinners at these parks! We booked the vacation package and have the $500 gc that we're going to spend all on food.

btw, are walk-ins available at Crystal Palace, I can't get any ADR between 8.00-11.45am from 01/29-01/31!

Any and all input would be tremendously appreciated!:yay:

First, congratulations on changing to moderate instead of value. We really like POR and hope you do too.

At Downtown Disney we always go to Wolfgang Puck Express. It's not a table service. Food is very good (among the best counter service at Disney and beats many of the table service quality in our opinion) and large quantities.

At MK, we're not found of most of the table service, so we tend to go to one of the nearby hotels. We really like Ohana or Kona at the Poly. We've heard good things about restaurants at GF, WL, and CR. Inside MK, Crystal Palace has decent food. For breakfast at MK we also enjoy the bakery on Main Street.

Epcot...
We really like Le Cellier, but it's difficult to get into. We also like the restaurants in Italy and France. Haven't tried them, but have also heard many people like Germany and Morocco. (One of the best parts about Epcot is that there are many choices depending on the type of food you like).

AK...
Although it's not a table service, we really like Flametree BBQ. They have very good food.

I suspect if you ask for opinions on favorite counter service locations Flametree and Wolfgang Puck Express will be high on most lists. The nice thing about good CS is that they save money and save time, but provide good quality.

We hope you have a wonderful trip!!!

Remember to relax and enjoy the vacation!

nice!

I have never at at the Boardwalk..but here's my suggestions for the rest if you can get in:

My brief draft of a plan is:
01/28 (Thu): Disney boardwalk or downtown disney (evening)

01/29 (Fri): Magic Kingdom (Crystal Palace is great for Bfast but I see you are trying to get in..I would keep on calling!!!! trust me I have called several times day before day of and got into a restaurant). Crystal palace is also good for Lunch and Dinner...so if you can't get into breakfast do an early lunch, you still get to see Pooh and Friend. Thats the only restaurant I have eaten at MK...i love it...wish I was able to eat at Tony's but had to cancel on my last trip :(...if you are just going to eat wherever, my two cents is don't eat at Cosmic Rays...yuck on the philly and cheese...well it was ok but it was yuck after an hour of eating it..l.ol.

01/30 (Sat): Epcot..Akershus Bfast with Princeses is great...Garden Grill for dinner not my favorite. Coral Reef is deeeeliscious but expensive and not alot of food...I ordered apricot BEEF rib...and I got one rib...it was sooo good too. :( haven't ate anywhere else but I heard most of the restaurants are good there...Also in Norway stop and get the schoolbread its 1.99 and its gooood...don't get tempted to get the almont pretzel it is DRY...

01/31 (Sun): Hollywood (wow Hollywood & Vine is good, Sci Fi is good)

02/01 (Mon): Animal kingdom + Downtown disney (evening) AK..tuskar house all the way (Bfast or lunch or dinner)..if not Flaming BBQ for lunch...good portions for the price...and good tasting chicken and beans!! Downtown Disney why I'm sorry but I love TREX!!!! Bongos (Glorida Estafan's joing) is good if you like spanish food...its not overly spicy, a little bland for me (I'm puerto rican so I'm use to CALIENTE!!! SPICY, Garlic, Peppery, Oniony tasting food) . if you don't feel like sitting in a restaurant...earl of sandwich has good sandwiches..oh there's also an italian restaurant there I can't remember the name..its good (again, pricey, but good)...however TREX is my choice..its fun and food is good...and hearty!

Now if you can, try and eat at some of the resort restaurants...all do need ressies..

Chef Mickeys is great but VERRRRRRY loud. (contemporary)

Cape may is very good...and calm.. (beach resort)

1900 Park Fare (good breafkast and dinner at Grand Floridian)

Ohanas is close to MK (Polynesian) bfast is good but its family style so you don't get a variety..

anyways that's my two cents....I must be hungry because I'm lurking in the Restaurant thread today...well I am pregnant so yea I'm probably hungry...

thinking about Mickey Waffles..why are those waffles so good????

Boardwalk area: We like bluezoo at the Dolphin or Flying Fish at the Boardwalk (both are only open for dinner).

MK: We like Crystal Palace for breakfast. I would not count on a walk up availability but you can always check when you get there; sometimes pixie dust lands where you least expect it. I'd try the Wave at CR for my pm meal.

Epcot: We like dinner at Bistro de Paris better than any of the other TS. For CS, we like Tangierine Cafe. We've never done breakfast at this park (but are trying the princess breakfast in a few months).

DHS: Best food is Brown Derby but we love the atmosphere at both Sci Fi and 50's PTC. No counter services here.

AK: We love the Tusker House character breakfast here, it's our favorite character meal because we enjoy the food. Many dissers rave about Yak n Yeti, we didn't care for it, but you might. We also enjoy the Flame Tree BBQ CS.

DTD: Good TS are Ragland Road and Wolfgang Puck's cafe. Good CS are Wolfgang Puck express and Earl of Sandwich.

DTD- Only place we have eaten was RFC and we were unimpressed. The theming is cool, but it's loud and crowded and ridiculously overpriced for the type of food. $50 for 2 sodas, an app sampler, and a wrap!

AK- We ate at Tusker House for dinner and Yak&Yeti for lunch. DH loved TH, I loved Y&Y. But since I am the one writing, I say go for Y&Y!!! Potsticker apps and fried wontons for dessert are great.

EP- We had lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh, which we were excited for, but decided was the worst meal of the trip. Even DH who eats anything wouldn't eat the lamb. Salad and desserts were tolerable. Dinner was CP at Chefs de France, which was beautiful but incredibly bland. Only winner here was creme brulee.

HS- We had lunch at 50s PT and dinner at SciFi. Both were good but nothing amazing. If the choice falls there, I say go for SF just for the theming, unless you like being yelled at to keep your elbows off the table.

MK- Breakfast at Main Street Bakery was heaven. Lunch at the Plaza was the favorite meal for both DH and I last month- great value, huge portions. Only other places I have eaten in MK are Pinnochio's Village Haus and Cosmic Rays- okay, but I prefer TS.

Me & my hubby, late 40's in age, just stayed at PORS in December. The resort is beautiful & we loved it!! Stayed in the mansions in Acadian House & loved walking along the river to POFQ. The boat ride to & from DTD is really worth it & so much more fun than the bus too! Below are my eating ideas...we had the free dining plan so we didn't have to watch our $ & that was so nice!

{I'd go with eating at Wolfgang Puck Express...awesome food. Is kind of like a Jasons Deli where you walk up & order but they bring the food out to you. We loved it & ate there 2 times & could of eaten there more!]
01/29 (Fri): Magic Kingdom
{ Take the monorail after the fireworks to the Poly & eat at Ohana. It is so so good & a fun restaurant too. Is my top favorite place in Disney to eat besides LeCellier!}
01/30 (Sat): Epcot
{ The choices here are way too many. But if you can get in LeCellier & it isn't too pricy it is totally awesome!! We loved it! Next choice there for us is Coral Reef}
01/31 (Sun): Hollywood
{I'd leave here & go to a resort to eat. Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge was really good & fun to see another resort.]
02/01 (Mon): Animal kingdom + Downtown disney (evening)
{ I'd eat Breakfast at the Tusker House Safari breakfast...is so so good & fun.}

(That's just an idea, I would love suggestions of another way to do it)

Crystal Palace will be closed during your trip for renovation. Liberty Tree Tavern will have a character breakfast while you are there.

Thanks for that info! And that's why it's not available from 8am to 9pm already!! Thanks for letting me know, I was planning on trying it online everyday until I get it!

Another vote for wolfgang puck express at downtown disney - the bbq wrap in garlic flatbread is to die for!! I also like earl of sandwich at downtown.

Epcot is usually coral reef or le celliur for us.

MK we also go to a nearby hotel - Kona Cafe is wonderful IMO. No question - main street bakery for breakfast!

Hollywood Studios - last time we took the boat over to Yacht and Beach Club to the Captain's Table - I think that was the name of it. Very good crab legs! Starring rolls is my favorite lunch or breakfast place - wonderful bakery.

I have never eaten a sit down meal at AK - as long as you are planning downtown disney I would recommend there.

Magic Kingdom - if not Crystal Palace since it's closed try Liberty Tree Tavern or Ohana's for breakfast. Crystal Palace was a really good buffet so I imagine LTT will be similar. Ohana's was a family style breakfast - good food and fun atmosphere. We like Tony's for dinner (they have good steak) but we also did Ohana on our last trip and it was pretty good.

Epcot - We love the Princess Breakfast and Le Cellier was one of the best steaks we have ever had. The bread is also delicious.

Animal Kingdom - I would suggest Tusker House for breakfast and dinner (we did lunch but it's generally the same for dinner). Both were delicious with tons of variety.

Hollywood Studios - We had breakfast at Hollywood and Vine. The buffet was very good. 50's Prime Time Cafe was very good. Awesome fried chicken. My in law's did the Brown Derby and said it was second favorite restaurant next to Le Cellier.
