We have VB ressie for 4/10-4/17, but couldn't get a flight on 4/10, so have to fly out on Apr 9. (BTW, we're paying $1,030 for 2 tickets + 1 free ticket from Hartford to Orlando nonstop). Called back MS, and now VB is sold out for 4/9. Cash price for 4/9 at VB is $400, so we'll stay at a DVC at WDW for 1 night instead. Two questions:

1. Which DVC is the most convenient to stay at for just 1 night? We'll just hang out at the resort - no parks. Everything was available.

2. Should we take the ME to the resort, then go to Disney Car Care Center the next day to get a rental car to drive to VB? Or is it easier to just get the rental car at Orlando airport when we arrive?

thanks! I haven't told my husband of our predicament cause he'll freak out.

If it were me, I'd waitlist 4/9 at VB and make a back up reservation near the airport for 4/9. If the flight was arriving early in the day, I might go to Sea World or Universal for the day if the VB waitlist doesn't come through - but I think it will.

If you realy want to use points, I'd go with SSR or OKW. IMHO, those two have the easiest in and out access. Plus they are near Downtwon Disney. Several of the DD Resorts have car rental desks, so you can do some comparison shopping for the car rental.

Good luck!

CarolMN, thanks! I'll reserve a car from the airport. Waitlisted VB for the 9th but made backup ressie for 1 night at WL. Hope it comes through, because it's obviously what we want, and DH doesn't take these things well...

Well, if you don't like the waitlist and backup hotel idea CarolMN suggested:
- If your time from arrival at MCO to arrival at VB is less than 24 hrs. - You could rent a car right at MCO for one day.
- Otherwise ME to your resort and then rent the car for one day at or near the resort. My onsite choice for "hanging out" would be BWV as you'd have the Boardwalk to hang out at.
- I prefer Hertz (Disneyworld/Kissimmee location will pick you up at any WDW resort and take you to their location just off property near AK - Hey maybe AKV is a choice!)
- Car rental at Swan/Dolphin or CC Center also.
- Embassy Suites near MCO has free transportation, Breakfast and Happy Hour, usually for aroud $100.
C U around the world!
