I have had to cancel our trip at Easter, which was 2 adults and one 14 yr old. It cost £2,439 staying at POP with Virgin

I am trying to book now for August and the prices with various companies are £1000 more !!

Why is there such a difference when Easter is just as popular and cooler ?

Any advice on a cheaper way to do this holiday flying from the Midlands or Manchester

Thanks

Easter can be cold not cool, we were there this Easter 1st week we had to buy fleeces is was so cold, 2nd week was nice. Next year Easter is very early, we fly Easter Sat 22nd Mar, just about as early as it can be, not expecting great weather.
August is a lot more popular with many because longer trips can be taken, Easter max we can do is 14 nights, August we do 25 nights, luckily we can afford to do both but if we had to choose it would be August, great weather and longer trip.
August has always been more expensive, this year we did Virgin Miles and Money for both Easter(£291) and Aug(£533), Next year has cost Easter(£410) and I think August was about £650, too much so we are usuing Miles out for a free flight and indirect return with BMI(prefer them to Virgin) total £335.
I doubt very much you will get any package reasonable in August, we always book flight only for August. If its 2 weeks try Travel City Direct.

Thanks Wayneg,

I don't know what Virgin miles are though we travel with them every year, twice last year.

First Choice can do POP for £700 for 14 days, so it seems that I'll look around for the best direct flights and try TCD

Firstly hotel, if you are booking hotel only Disney.co.uk are usually about the best price, I just checked 2 weeks in August for Pop is £588.

Virgin, You need to register with the Flying club, you could save a fortune. We have saved over £3600 in the past 18 months using miles and money or free flights. Every trip you do to Florida adds over 8,000 miles to your account. You only need 2,000 for a Miles and Money fare. Or another way is to use 20,000 miles to get a free one way fare. You can also use miles to upgrade.
Read here about it anyone over 12 can register. http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/index.jsp
I also use Virgin credit card, earn 1 mile for every £1 spent, got over 6,000 miles this month alone, enough for another miles and money flight for all of us.
If you get someone to recommend you, you both get a bonus after your next flight.
If you have been on a Virgin flight within the past 6 months, register and claim your miles here https://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/managefcaccount/missingmiles.jsp

Ask if there is anything else you want to know.

WOW, thanks for that info Wayne, I feel sure we will be going now and I maybe able to go for under £3,000.

I will contact Virgin though living in the Midlands, I would prefer to fly from there

Take a look at Thomson flight prices from Birmingham - they seemed quite good when I check a while ago.

Well so far I've joined the flying club and have got 6336 miles. Flights for August are £748 pp.
It's a bit overwhelming booking seperately as one phone call to Virgin usually does everything.
But I will try TCD and Thompson when the travel agents open
Thanks for all the advice
Anne
