Can you help? My family and I (DH, myself and DS 5yrs. old) are going to WDW in June for our first trip.
I am planning on going to a park in the morning, have down time (and lunch in the room) and then heading out for dinner and another park (hopfully be able to have dinner at the evening park).
I need to make PS's. Can anyone tell me what your day looks like when you are planning like this? What time should I make PS's so that we are able to have down time, eat (at evening park) and enjoy the evening park? (or do we go to evening park and play, then eat and then play more?)
What do I do? Any advice, please?!!

Thanks,
Kris

I'm not really sure I understand what you're asking.

I think I'd plan on being in a park until around noon then heading back to your room for 2-3 hours. Seems like you'd eat lunch around 1 or 1:30 that way.
Head back to a park and I'd have a late dinner, at least 7 or 7:30. You'll be tired and ready for the break by then. Is that what you're asking? I think you'd get more opinions if you post under Dining.
Good luck!

I'm doing lunch around 12:00 and planning dinner between 5-6. We usually don't eat much for breakfast and I know last time by 11:30am we were starving.

We don't typically take a break in the middle of the day but if we did I would chose the early dinner and then use the rest of the evening for park time. We like to maximize our park time and sometimes a sit down meal can take over an hour.

I'm also for the early dinner. Everyone else seems to want to eat at 6pm or later and you spend more time waiting. If you book the first PS for dinnertime or the last lunchtime PS, chances are you will be seated quicker.

Happy planning!

I thought that no matter what time it is, if I had a PS I would be seated quickly. Is this not true?

Thanks,
Kris

Quickly? Not necessarily. You may wait quite a while at California Grille or any of the other high-end restaurants, especially during peak season, and especially between 7:00pm and 8:30pm.
Always arrive at least 15 minutes prior, this helps off-set any long wait times.

and having done several trips with him over the past few years, we have figured out the following:

(1) If you want to do a character breakfast in the park, for example Crystal Palace at MK, or Breakfastosaurus at AK, make it for as late as possible, perhaps on an EE day. DS is an early riser, so this works for us. We have some juice and maybe a granola bar on our way to the park. Then we take advantage of the EE. Have a LATE breakfast with our PS. If we missed anything, we can do that, then take our break, which we do every day. Then, an earlier dinner PS. This way you miss the worst of the breakfast and the dinner crowds. We fill in with a snack mid-afternoon.

(2) Be ready to miss a PS and an evening in the par if someone is too pooped to pop. Dinner with a cranky kid is no fun at all. We have scrapped nice dinner plans for in-room pizza more than once, but it turns out better in the long run. Sometimes the very thought of heading back out to a park and dinner was way too much for DS. We have had a lot of fun just hanging out at the resort when he (we) were too tired to go back.

Just remember to go with the flow and have fun!
