I have been to Disney at least 7 times and have NEVER been to Pleasure Island. I have been to Quest and Cirque over there, but never actually entered. Traveling this summer with a 15 yr old son and a 12 yr old daughter I dont know anything about it. Does it cost to enter? What do you do there? Is there anything for the kids?...Please need some help and I know this is the place to get it. Thanks!

New rules have stated you can go into the actual "Island" for free and at any age, but it now costs to get into the separate clubs (a point on your MYW cards). However, it is not really a place for kids - there is a lot of drinking going on - they serve alcohol on the streets during the nightly celebration and I believe most people here agree that it's definitely a bad idea to let all ages into PI. For kids, there's really not much to do - there's a Superstar Karaoke Studio and some carnival games, but mostly it's just clubs. The Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse are the tamest things there, however, the jokes are quite adult. In the end, it's up for you to decide. Have fun though!!! Whether or not you take the kids, you'll have a blast

Do teenagers have to be accompanied by an adult to get in at night? Do they check ID's

We will be there in March with a 15 year old, I am worried about her trying to get in.

Not any longer - You have to be 18 (21 for BET or mannequins) to get into the clubs, but there's no more age limit, parents or not anymore to get into the gates. They do check for IDs at the clubs, and Disney is known for being able to spot fakes...but, just like ANY place, I know of a couple that have slipped by - just be alert - that's all...I really doubt you should have any trouble, but the new Open Gate Policy to all ages is incredibly ridiculous

Thank you.

She's one of those that I have no doubt is going to try it.

Thanks. I think we will skip the whole Island thing...there is plenty to do without going there.

:teeth:

Oh that's for sure! :) If you ever have an "adult night alone" I suggest jellyrolls over PI anyway. Believe me, when you go, you'll see why!

I have become quite disenchanted with PI over the past year or so. As a couple of 40-something empty-nesters, PI used to be a 'grown-up' place where we could still hit some clubs and have a good time (we lurve the AC - Kungaloosh!). And though we love kids, it was nice to have one spot at WDW where we could walk from building to building without dodging strollers! :rotfl2: However, with the new 'open access' policy, it's starting to get as bad as Main Street; crowds of kids with nothing to do but roam the walkways. And we can find that kind of atmosphere anywere on-site.

Oh, and I second Jellyrolls - THAT'S a good time!

Where's Jellyrolls??? I'm intrigued!

i heard that BET and Mannequins is 18+ on sundays-wednesdays... is this true or is it now 21+ ALL the time?

Ok, what the heck is a Jellyroll? Sounds delicious, but somehow I don't think it has anything to do with food.......:rotfl2:

It is a dueling-piano bar located at the Boardwalk Resort, restricted to age 21 and over.

Never been there, I just know what it is.

BET is only 21 Fri and Sat.

Mannequins is 21 Thur - Sat and if not 21, it's 18+ only.

They take requests (if you tip 'em) but they are hilarious and seem to know EVERYTHING and if they don't - they'll make it up... Time goes so fast

I am 22 and my fiancee is 24. Last year was our first time to Disney and we are going back for our second time next month. On our last visit, we got all dressed up and went down to Pleasure Island. It was somewhat of a letdown. We go to clubs at home once and a while, enjoy drinking :sunny: and the odd dance... however, when we went it wasn't very busy. We were also shocked that you were allowed to drink on the "street" there too. And, not only were we allowed to bring our outside drinks into the clubs, they were our ticket to the front of the line. We are from Canada and our laws are quite a bit more strict. Anyway, we had an awful time getting into Adventurer's Club and it kind of ruined our nite (even though we were both of age, and I look OLD!). We had a couple of drinks and danced somewhere else but it wasn't much fun. We had more fun when we went over to Planet Hollywood which isn't on the Island, even though we have one about 20 minutes from home. This year, we plan to go to the Boardwalk (ie. Jellyrolls) since we have heard so much about it and didn't get a chance to visit last time! :cheer2:

Drinking on the streets at Pleasure Island wouldn't be a bad thing if it were adults only.
