Help with planning

I'm wondering a few things about a possible upcoming trip in Feb. My son is off school during Presidents Day week (not something we celebrate up here, but it just happens to coincide with his Feb. break).
We've only been to DL once, in 2008 during the "after spring break" lull, and I think I've been a bit spoiled by the low crowds we experienced then.
So I have a few questions;
I realize we can expect a very busy weekend from Feb 12 to 16th (friday to monday), but crowds should be slightly lower for the remainder of the week?
Have demographics changed much? Specifically DCA being the place to go in the afternoon when DL gets busy, and Bug's Land being practically deserted most of the time?
Our last trip, strategies were: be at the gates for opening, take a siesta at the hotel in the early afternoon, collect FP's in the morning to use later in the day when crowds are bigger, and take advantage of MM. Spend till about 5pm at DCA, then head to DL till closing, or till we were too tired to walk - whichever came first!
We're thinking of taking a day, renting a car, and heading to Legoland, since we have 2 Lego crazy ds's. Would this be a good way to spend one of the busier days at the parks, or is DL better at crowd control than Legoland might be?
Anyone have any other advice for an 8 day trip from Feb 13th to 21st?

We have been to DLR twice during Presidents week, crowds aren't too bad. Just use Fast Pass and by Wed. the crowd does thin out some. As far as Legoland goes, it's very popular with locals and it also will be very busy over the three day weekend.

That is generally a good plan for attacking crowds at DL. I think you will be fine.
