So this will be my second visit to DLP, first one in 2001 and vowed never to go back, since then we have done 5 visit to WDW. Now I think the planning for DLP is a different beast. We go on 28th March for 4 nights with our 8 year old son. Usually by the planning stage with WDW I know what we are doing when we are doing it and how we are doing it.......I have done nothing....well I have booked it.

We are staying in theCheyanne. No Dining plan. Would like to do at least 1 character meal. I would like some kind of touring plan ( because I just neeeeeed one). I would Like to visit the other hotels. We also want to do the wild west show. Any other input would be very welcome.

On another side, the reason I said I would never go back is because of the rudness it was appalling...but going to live with it. The only other thing that I am VERY worried about is the smoking. Our son has smoke related asthma so I am hoping its not has bad has people have said.
thanks

Disneyland is a bit bigger size than wise Magic Kingdom. DLP at the moment is going though a huge refub and many areas are surrounded by scaffolding. You are going at a busy time, Easter school holidays in many European countries, but as you are used to WDW you will be fine. Check out the list of closures here http://holidays.disneylandparis.co.uk/eep.html

The second park is Disney Studios is just beside the main park. It is a smaller version of Hollywood Studios in Florida. There are a few signature rides, Ratatouille, Crush Coaster and Hollywood Tower of Terror.

My basic suggestion is to have 1 day at The Studios and the rest of the time in the main park. You are staying onsite so you have park hopper tickets, and its very easy to go between the two parks.

I would Like to visit the other hotels.
Very easy to do. Disneyland Hotel is above the entrance turn-styles to the main park. If you walk through Disney Village you will pass Hotel New York on the way to your hotel. Walk around the lake to Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay

smoking is still pretty bad at DLP OP, I don't think much has changed in that respect since 2001.

OOPS somehow lost the first part of my post!!

Just breathe, you have plenty of time to plan at DLP

We are staying in theCheyanne. No Dining plan.
You will get breakfast included for each day of your visit. So then you just need lunch and evening meal. I usually snack through out the day or have a counter service and then a table service in the evening.

You can check out the restaurants which need a reservation here http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk/dining/
Then check out the menus here http://www.dlpguide.com/planning/dining/restaurant-menus/
Then check here to make sure the restaurants you want to eat at are open during your visit http://disneykindofday.blogspot.nl/search/label/March+Restaurant+Opening+Hours+2016
Once you know where you want to book you will need to ring the Disney Dining Line , a French number +33 160304050 they speak both French and English

Would like to do at least 1 character meal.
The character meals I would recommend for you are Cafe Micky in Disney Village (table service ) and Inventions at Disneyland Hotel (buffet)

As you are staying onsite you will have EMH from 8am to 10am. I would advise you use it. You are going in Easter holiday time and the park will fill up after 10am.

The signature firworks show is called Dreams and is on every night at park closing

as for a touring plan, this is my touring plan for my 3 day visit in February. This is a solo trip and I dont do character meets or parades. I am also skipping Dreams

^^^ Wow, BadPinkTink, I'm impressed with your planning! However, looking at the dates you're going, I'll be surprised if you need Fast Passes for half the things you're mentioning - Ratatouille, yes, and maybe Buzz. But you won't need them for Flying Carpets (not sure they even have one?) or Star Tours (likewise - do they have fast passes? Can't remember!). Crush's coaster definitely doesn't have fast passes. Just a single rider line, which some people say can be slower than the normal line weirdly!
Cars Quatre Roues Rallye doesn't have a single riders line. Parachute drop DOES and definitely make use of that!! Tower of Terror has fast passes - may be worth considering.
Not sure if Pirates is open for EMH Rope Drop....I'm sure someone else can confirm that.
Autopia is a slow loader so even on quiet days the queue can take some time...
Stitch - check as early as you can as to when the English showings are. They are often not included on the weekly timings leaflet thing. You may be surprised when the shows are for that one. Motor Action may also only be on once a day, probably more like 2.30pm or something. You'll get that week's timings leaflet when you check in at the hotel. Which is another point - they MAY not let you check in until 3pm. We've been lucky once or twice when we've arrived early. Another time we for all intents and purposes checked in, but we couldn't have our room keys until after 3pm that afternoon. We travelled by car, so the luggage just stayed in the car....

On a side note, you may find that some rides that have been a bit busy suddenly get a little quieter around parade time - so make use of that. Plus, the parade pretty much stops you crossing from one side of the park to the other, so worth keeping that in mind too.

Anyway, you may know most of that, but thought I'd share just in case it helped.

Thanks @cdsmiler81 :) I just kinda went though the maps and put everything down that I might be interested in. The last time was Christmas and it was manic, so this time I am spending more time in the studios and planning better

Im not expecting my room to be ready, fully prepared to just use the luggage store until later :)

I need to check the show times the week before. The fast passes are just extra if I need them, a reminder to myself :)

When I say Rope Drop for Pirates, I mean literally wait at the rope at the end of EMH and be the first on the ride at 10am, I did this the last time :)

The touring plan we had for our one day at DLP:
Space Mountain
Star Tours
Buzz
Nautilus (quick walk through)
Watched halloween parade
Curious labyrinth
Tea cups
Snow White
Pinocchio
Grabbed FP for BTMM
Indiana Jones
Lunch at Pinocchio themed restaurant
Pirates
Watched villains show at castle
Walked through castle
BTMM with FP (return time 1320-1350)
Phantom Manor
Parade
Space Mountain again
Walked through Aladdin's passage
Walked on bridge/ pirates area
Walked through halloween decorations in Frontierland
By this time it was almost 8pm and fireworks time.

So we basically covered the entire park with a lunch break from 9:30am or so to 8pm!
