Help with planning a stay.. Not a vacation..

Hi all! We are going on vacation in Orlando in April and that is all planned, but now I have more planning to do. My daughter has a dance competition at the Dolphin the week of 4th of July. Yep, isn't that horrible? No parks for us I hate the heat and crowds. So now I need a hotel. The Dolphin is not an option it was sold out and I would rather not spend that much for a non-vacation. Any tips or ideas of where would be the best place to stay? Thanks in advance.

There are a bazillion hotels in the Disney area. If you have a brand preference, I would just go to their website and chose a good price, then check Tripadvisor for reviews. For example, I usually stay in Marriott properties. There are six or eight Marriotts very close to the area you need.

If you don't have a brand preference, I would suggest using a website like Kayak and finding the lowest cost property that meets your standards, then again check Tripadvisor for reviews. I draw the line at some of the chains like Days Inn, but some of the lower priced ones like Best Western often have very acceptable properties.

Buena Vista Suites is a nice place for a couple of nights. It's a good price and also comes with complimentary breakfast buffet. I've stayed here a few times when in town for a convention. It's roomy and clean.
