Help with planning a destination wedding on a budget

I'm helping with a reception...we are doing a several one tier cakes on different cake stands. The cake stands belong to the bride's mom, aunt, grandmother, etc. Each cake will be a different flavor. It's a lot less expensive this way, and it will look wonderful (we tested it out--even took photos).

I Mission Point. I love the resort even more than the Grand (which is just too fussy for my taste - blasphemy, I know). What a fantastic choice for them.

I grew up in the area - about a half hour south of Mackinaw City. My family is all still there. I agree with a previous poster that advised checking prices for some of the smaller cities in the northern MI area - Cheboygan, Roger City, Onaway, Petoskey, Harbor Springs - they all have wedding professionals that are very, very inexpensive compared to Mackinaw (or certainly anywhere else in the state), all do a really great job.
