I'm thinking about redepositing my Delta skymiles and purchasing tickets through USAirways. I have been watching my Delta flights, and there have been cancellations and most of the flights have been had big delays. I hate flying through Atlanta!

I haven't flown through PHL before and am wondering about connection times. One flight has a hour and 8 minute layover. Our first leg will be regular USAirways, the 2nd will be Express. Will I have enough time to make this connection? Does PHL have ramps for the small jets or do you bus to your plane? How do you get from one terminal to another?

That's plenty of time in Philly, even from an F gate to an A gate.

Terminal F uses both buses and ramps for the flights, and it's really impossible to say which you'll end up with, but even with the buses it's not a big deal. Inside the terminal there are moving walk ways between the areas, and I've never used it, but I believe there is a shuttle bus from F to C and A.

Terminal F is essentially a US AIR EXPRESS TERminal -I jusyt picked up my daughter tonight there.

There is a bus from F to the B/C terminal.s which are USAIR Terminals. IF you arrive on time an hour is plenty of time.

I would however advise against having anything to do with USAir. Out of PhL they are realllllllllllllllllyy lousy and the luggage crew is the worst in the USA.

I have heard this before. We flew out of PHL on USAirways in June to go to Mexico with no problems. I guess I will have to hope we gt lucky and our luggage shows up in Orlando! At least we will show up in Orlando which is more than I can say for my Delta flights. We'll be the couple walking around naked!

Ducklite,

Thanks for the information. I know you are a frequent traveler so your opinion helps.

You're welcome! I'll be doing the transfer from C to F in a couple weeks as I fly through PHL on my way from MCO to ALB for a vacation in the mountains. :)

I have had no problems with PHL and I have been through that airport many times.

The bus between F and the regular terminal runs quite often. If you board at F you won't need a bus once you get there. You can walk to F but the bus is quicker.

The only luggage problem in PHL is that sometimes it can take an hour to get your bags, other than that no problems. We're flying out on Friday out of PHL. :thumbsup2

I agree. I've had as many problems getting luggage at MCO, where I've waited over an hour more than once.

Funny you mentioned that...when we came back from Mexico, it took about 45 min. to get our luggage. It was late at night, and we were the only arriving flight. I hope that's what PHL gts its bad reputation for and not for not getting luggage transferred between flights.

MickiMouth, what time is your flight. We're flying into TPA too. Our flight time is 7:35 am. :thumbsup2

Darn, our flight is 9:30 am. I wish we were on the same flight. I'm nervous about flying and would feel better knowing another DISer was on board. Our return is 8-26 TPA to PHL 2:05 pm.
Hope you have a great vacation.

We're coming back the same day, but on a different flight. We leave TPA 3:50pm. I don't think that you have anything to worry about. People that I work with who travel on business have had no problems. My parents left for Ireland on Sunday and they had no problems at all.

We're surprising the kids by taking a stretch limo to the airport. That should help wake them up b/c the limo is picking us up at 5am.

Enjoy your trip. I can't wait to get back to my home BWV. :cool1:
